The CWFC and SSTABS Boards sincerely apologize for the issues

surrounding booking rooms at the Embassy Suites. As many of you

know, we filled our room block on the first day of registration and

due to other events at the hotel, there are no more rooms

available. However, there are several hotels near the Embassy

Suites who offer a per diem rate and have availability during the

conference. We have included information on the hotels nearest to

the Embassy Suites below:

We are excited to announce that we will be offering the Certified Welfare Fraud Investigator

(CWFI) exam at this year’s conference!

In order to sit for the test you must:

Be a UCOWF member in good standing; (Remember, membership to UCOWF is

INCLUDED with your CWFC membership fees this year!)

Be a current and full time investigator, supervisor, administrator, etc…, who is also involved

in fraud investigation activities;

Have a minimum of TWO years ongoing, continuous experience in public assistance fraud

investigations;

In the case of employment by a state or providence whose welfare delivery system is state-

supervised and locally administered, spend 50% or more of your time in fraud investigation

activities; (i.e. fraud prevention investigations or back-end investigations)

Agree to perform all professional duties in accordance with applicable government

standards;

Complete and pass the CWFI Certification exam;

Agree to obey all federal, state and local laws and the UCOWF Code of Ethics.

The CWFI Exam will be offered on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 1:30 to 3:30 PM.

You will need to apply for the test by 4/20/2019 and there is an additional $50.00

charge to take the test (paid directly to UCOWF.) Applications to take the test

can be found on the UCOWF website.

We are now accepting nominations for the annual CWFC Awards Presentation to be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019. The individual/group

will be presented with their award at this year's Emerald Ball at the CWFC/SSTABS Training Conference being held at the Embassy Suites in

Loveland, CO from May 8-10, 2019.

Please remember to submit your nomination for an individual or group

who deserves recognition for their work in the prevention, detection,

prosecution, recovery and/or maintaining the integrity of public

assistance programs. Candidates do not need to be members of CWFC to

receive an award.

Nominations are due by Friday, March 15, 2019. Please submit them by

completing the form on the following page and submitting it via email to

Call for Board Members! We are looking for motivated individuals who are ready to

participate in the board as either a member or an officer.

The time commitment will depend on you, but we meet

monthly on the third Friday of the month. We have

teleconference options available each month for those who

cannot attend in person.

If you are interested, please join us at any of our upcoming

board meetings so you can get a feel for the position

before the new board year starts in June, 2019.

NOTE: in order to attend meetings and/or be on the board,

you must be a current CWFC member in good standing.

**Fraud Red Flags training will be offered before the board meeting at these locations.

Fraud Red Flags Synopsis: Using case studies, this training will show eligibility workers common red flags for fraud and offer them guidance on what types of questions they are allowed to ask and what kinds of verifications they are allowed to request. This training is great for anyone who is involved in interviewing or processing cases but is also helpful for smaller counties where there is not a dedicated fraud investigator.
