Our committee is from a diverse range of backgrounds and we actively promote all are-as of Home Education. Our vision is to ensure that Home Education is available to all mem-bers of the community regardless of cultural beliefs, additional needs or level of educa-tion.
Are you interested or have experience in:
Organising events
Budgeting, financial processes and re-porting
Advertising/promotion
Leadership
Advocacy
Meeting new people and feeling part of a community
Risk management
Developing and implementing organisa-tional and strategic plans
Helping others
These are areas we need in help in. New com-mittee members/volunteers are welcomed, supported by mentors and valued.

Budding Writers
Do you have a child or children who would be keen to create an edition of the Home Education WA Newsletter? Our newsletter goes out to over 1000 home educating families. If you would like to find out more, email [email protected]. A fantastic experience for budding writers and great way to meet the English requirements for the WA Curriculum.

There is also a new feature recently added to the WA Curriculum which provides “Snapshots” for each year and subject using every-day language and examples.

If you are organising a gathering, event or class, here are some things to consider:
Do you need liability insurance?
Do you need workers compensation insurance?
What is “Duty of Care” and does it apply to you?
Are you responsible if a child is hurt while attending your event?
Are you responsible for any damage that occurs to the venue or resources provided for the event?
Will you be “out of pocket” if you have to cancel the event due to unforeseen circumstances?
These are just some of the things to be considered when or-ganising an activity for the home-ed community. HEWA mem-bers have access to advice, support, insurance and documen-tation. Email [email protected] to find out more. For a limited time, non-members are also able to access advice.
