HOW IT WORKS

The rock cycle is a cycle that never stops and has no starting point. Igneous rock is the parent of all rocks(because it is formed inside the earth) so let’s start with igneous rock. First it starts as magma in the earths core then it comes to the surface through a volcanic eruption or a fissure in the earth.

HOW IT WORKS

Then igneous rock is weathered by the elements, Erosion comes in and it brings it to a water source. The burial and compactation come in and from the enormous amount of pressure it becomes sedimentary rock. Then with heat and pressure the sedimentary rock becomes metamorphic rock then it melts and becomes magma. The magma crystallizes and the cycle starts again.

SEDIMENTARY ROCK

Sedimentary rock is a mineral that is created by sedimentation in bodies of water and on the earths surface. Particles that make up sedimentary rock are called sediments

USES FOR SEDIMENTARY

ROCKSedimentary rock can be used for many different things here are some examples like gypsum, Gypsum can be used in chalk, drywall, and plaster or coal coal can be use

GRAINS

Grains: sedimentary rocks are put into three sections according to grain. Sedimentary rocks can vary from fine grained to medium grained and also coarse grain.

LOCATIONSedimentary rocks can be found in seventy-five percent of the earth and can also carry fossils. Sedimentary rock can be found under lake Thoma-Lex and near Kure beach

USES FOR IGNEOUS ROCKIgneous rock can be used in many different thing lets take granite, granite can be used in countertops, monuments (including mount Rushmore) . Or pumice simce it is fairly light it is used in decorative landscaping

Yes. Coal is found in NC 95% comes from Chatham county the other 5% is found in small quarries in Randolph and lee county
