The question isn’t “Where do you want to go?” It’s “Where do you want to go first?”

A Note from Dea…Happy New Year! Last year was our 12th year in business, and it was our busiest and best year yet! We spent 151 days on the road for overnight trips, concluding our last tour at The Greenbrier Resort on December 15th, an elegant 5 Star Luxury Resort and the perfect way to wind down after a year spent traveling the globe!

We start again in March as we head far north to Iceland on one of our amazing AWTY Select Tours, which combines incredible destinations with a limited number of travelers. Smaller groups allow us to include amazing experiences at venues that most companies skip, such as the John Wilkes Booth Escape Trail in Washington D.C. or spending the night on the island of Inishbofin off the coast of Ireland. The maximum number of people on a select tour typically ranges from 20 to 30 total travelers, though our Safari to Tanzania in 2014 had a maximum of 8! We find that you enjoy traveling in a small group, as we are able to explore a destination more fully, including hidden gems of restaurants, hotels and attractions that cannot accommodate 40 to 50 people. These unique experiences make a tour memorable and we want to bring that to all of our valued customers.

Many of our AWTY Select Tours involve flying, and in our previous brochure I wrote about the Federal REAL ID Act of 2005 and Missouri Driver’s Licenses would not be accepted as ID for flying in 2018. I testified in Jefferson City on how this would impact all Missourians who have to travel by air, whether for fun, for business, or for family. The good news is that Missouri has passed a bill to give people the option of having a REAL ID compliant license, and the Department of Homeland Security has provided the state with an extension to allow residents to continue to use Missouri Driver’s Licenses at the airport through October 2018. The bad news is that the state does not believe it will be able to create the new licenses until March of 2019, and the state will need at least one more extension. While we believe that the state will continue to receive extensions, if you need a passport or passport card for travel, or if you need to renew your current one, I would like to recommend using the Kirkwood Library. The library staff is incredibly helpful, and they make the entire process quick, easy and painless. Plus, they use the funds they receive as a passport agency to support the library and its programs!

We have so many great trips planned for this year, including Alaska by Land and Sea for a really great price. With a cruise on the newest Celebrity vessel and traveling from Fairbanks to Denali on the Wilderness Train, it is one of our best tours to the last frontier we’ve ever done! In 2018 we return to favorites like Mackinac Island, Ireland, and San Francisco, and head to Are We There Yet? firsts such as Sensational Sicily and Southern Italy, which features Rome, Capri, and Sorrento, plus tours of the Vatican Museum and the Ruins of Pompeii. We’re even going to China! One new tour is Delaware Debutantes, Mansions and Gardens, where we will tour the luxurious mansions of the Du Pont family, one of the wealthiest families on the East Coast and founders of the Dupont Company. From the 5th largest home ever built in America that is home to George and Martha Washington’s china to an American Versailles, complete with a statue towering 12 feet from the ground covered in gold leaf! We’ll also take a trip back in time to the two oldest cities in Delaware, as well as getting out on the water where the Delaware River meets the Atlantic Ocean.

And speaking of getting on the water, we have lots of boats in our future, from taking ferries to visit the Treasured Isles of Georgia to Rolling Down the Ohio River on the Belle of Cincinnati, cruising the Ohio River during the day and staying in hotels at night, so you don’t miss a moment on the river!

Closer to home, we have amazing day trips coming up as well, some of which we are partnering with Saint Louis Community College. Many of our travelers had their first experience with Are We There Yet? on one of the tours offered through the college, and we are proud to be working with them on another great year of tours. I have also taught seminars for the college on how to pack a suitcase or how to avoid travel scams, and many of you have invited me to speak at your organization or club, for which I am truly grateful. It means so much that you would recommend us wholeheartedly to your friends and family. You are the reason for our success, and we are so happy to see the world with all of you. I cannot wait to see more of it with you in 2018.

We are flying up to the Windy City on Southwest and exploring the city before seeing the show that night.
