What is an eCitation?Electronic citations allow law enforcement officers to print legible tickets on the spot while automatically transmitting digital information about the incident to municipal, police and court records management systems.
BENEFITS OF ECITATION MOBILITY1. Increases officer safety by reducing dangerous roadside time
3. A system-wide approach drives better efficiency
2. Provide greater citation accuracy and maintain transparency in the citation process
Crashes accounted
for 29%of officer deaths in the 1980s35% in the 1990s and 48% in
the first decade of 2000
eCitation systems can lead to more thana 50% reduction in ticketing time
eCitation = 98% citation accuracy 10-15% of handwritten tickets are dismissed dueto illegibility (or $600-900 million in lost revenue)
An e-citation is neater and more legible
eCitation systems reduce the time to process tickets from 12 days down to seconds
Get nearly instantaneous access to traffic violations and accident data
No need for clerks to manually enter paper tickets into a database
4. Improves officer productivity and job satisfaction
5. Reduces the cost of processing citations
It takes an officer 10-15 minutesto manually issue a citation
Electronic systems reduce that time to 2-3 minutes, eliminating up to 200 keystrokes
Going green can save reduce paper costs by 75% or more
6. See a fast return on investment due to the increase in revenue and reduction of administrative costs

“The benefits of electronic citation are exceptional. Local governments are able to both better maximize their operations and drive gains in revenue collection
at a time when municipalities are being asked to do more with less.” - Steve Rauschenberger, executive director of the eCitation Coalition
