conogrid lab
A fabrication lab for the architecture school at the University of Southern California, the Conogrid Lab creates a connection between the spatial, operational, and sustainable elements of the structure inside and out. An experimental facade, the “conogrid” is composed of dierent pods that work to harvest and utilize as much natural energy as possible. A tower on the site, the unique design becomes an icon of the school, helping dene and represent the creative work the students and sta undertake. A 6 ft wide by 12 ft high wall piece of the facade and pods was constructed as a group for the nal of the semester.
University of Southern CaliforniaSpring, 2013--Arch 505b*Building design and drawings co-produced with Christian Hernandez. Facade pods further developed and detailed with the Patrick Tighe 505b studio.

soundspaceLA
Nestled into Bunker Hill of Downtown Los Angeles, this project lends itself to benet the education of musically inclined students and gives the public a glimpse into the educational world. By day the student of the soundspaceLA Music School occupy the building and utilize the outdoor amphitheater for large rehearsal space. By night the public is invited to enter the amphitheater by way of the rst oor of the music school, giving them a glimpse of the educational world of music that the students reside in. The geometric form creates an invigorating space, inside and out, enticing the public to enter and discover a world of sound.

Velvet ChurchWallenberg Competition
Pruit-Igoe is charged ground. Regardless of the presence of actual debris, the
iconic image of implosion, seared in our collective cultural memory for decades, has forever grafted the tower’s remains to this tragic site. ‘Velvet Church’ builds from this ground, not in order to restore
what was, nor to ignore it completely, but to posit a new ground where the status of
what was and what will be is elusive yet inspiring. Formally, the building rises from the site yet fails to fully emerge—trapped in a middle state like a phoenix half arisen
from its ashes. This direct connection to the earth is developed formally in two ways. On the outside sculptural berms smooth
the connection from building to site while on the inside crenellated proles build up geological strata of organization. Coating building and landscape alike is a wash of
abstract color and texture destabilizing the formal metaphors and shifting the buildings
aective state.
