FAÇADE OF CA’DORO
DESIGN 2
The idea of a Venetian blind greatly inspired my concept for a new façade of Ca’d’oro.
One Facade can serve as many different functions.
My concept was to create moments of circulation, observation and rest all with the use of one common facade.
The new façade of the Ca’d’oro consists of moveable panels (venetian blinds). These panels are moveable and able to curve and twist to serve as a different function within the building.

The new façade of the Ca’d’oro consists of moveable panels (venetian blinds). These panels are moveable and able to curve and twist to serve as a different function within the building.
The first floor will serve as a moment of circulation. The venetian blinds will be manipulation and extend outwards past the façade line to serve as steps into the building and ramps within the building.

The second floor will serve as a moment of observation. The venetian blinds will be mostly closed so that they may serve as a canvas to house artwork within the building. Other venetian blinds can be slightly twisted to serve as tables to house sculptures.
The third floor façade will serve as a moment of resting. The venetian blind façade can serve as chairs, benches, tables for guests to gather and rest. Slightly opened venetian blinds will serve as a filter for light into the building and completely open venetian blinds will give a clear view outwards toward the city of Venice.

CONCEPT
• LIKE MARLOES TEN BHMOER WHOSE SHOES MOLD OR TRACE THE FORM OF THE FOOT WHILE EXPOSING CERTAIN AREAS OF THE FOOT, THE SHOE STORE FAÇADE WILL WRAP AROUND THE FLOORS CONCEALING OR REVEALING CERTAIN SPACES AND MOMENTS OF CIRCULATION.

STUDY MODEL 1
THIS MODEL EXPLORES HOW I WANTED TO CONCEAL AND REVEAL MOMENTS IN THE BUILDING AND MOMENTS OF CIRCULATION.
VERTICAL PANES WOULD SERVE AS A FACADE FOR THE SHOE STORE. THEY PARTIALLY COVER THE FLOORS, LEAVING SOME PARTS OF THE
FLOOR EXPOSED AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

RATHER THAN HAVING A FLAT PLANE SURFACE FOR THE FACADE, I USED A STACKING METHOD
TO CREATE OPENINGS AND SERVE AS ANOTHER FILTER OF LIGHT FOR EACH SPACE.

LIKE THE FIRE ESCAPE STAIRS THAT EXTRUDE OUT OF THE BUILDING ONTO THE SIDEWACK, I WANTED THE SHOE STORE TO INCORPORATE THIS IDEA
AND SERVE AS ITS MAIN ENTRY. DESIGN 2
