EXERCISE: TO DESIGN A PART OF CENTRAL DELHI (2.5 SQ. Km.. APPROX.), AS A SUS-TAINABLE URBAN UNIT, WHICH SHALL BE ABLE TO SUSTAIN THE PROJECTIONS FOR THE POPULATION, ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION IN YEAR 2035.

CONCEPT: THE VISION IS A VERY ENVIRONMENTALLY SYMPATHETIC FUTURE FOR THE CITY, AS OPPOSED TO THE SCIENCE FICTION ARCHITECTURE. THE REGION IS DESIGNED AS A REPLICABLE UNIT, WITH GREENS FLOWING THROUGH IT, AS AN EXTENSION TO THE CITY RIDGE, INTO THE MAIN CITY. THESE GREENS, ORIENTED PERPENDICULAR TO THE CITY RIVER, WORK LIKE A COURTYARD IN A VERNACULAR INDIAN HOUSE. THE ARTERIAL ROADS ARE BUILT ON THREE LEVELS WITH LOCAL TRAIN RUNNING UNDERGROUND, AND PARKING FOR GREEN-FUEL VEHICLES ON THE GROUND FLOOR, WHICH CAN BE USED TO MANEUVER THROUGH THE CITY.

PRESENTATION: DRAFTING WITH AUTO CAD, RENDERED IN PHOTOSHOP AS PER THE STANDARD COLOR CODING. MODEL IN ETHAFLEX, MAGAZINE AND NEWS PAPER AND TRANSPARENT ACRYLIC SHEET.

  • EXERCISE: TO DESIGN AN URBAN PUBLIC SPACE, TO GIVE TRADITIONAL AND FOLK ARTISTS A PLATFORM TO REACH OUT TO THE NEW EMERGING GLOBAL MARKETS. AT THE SAME TIME, ALSO TO PROVIDE FOR THE MUCH NEEDED PUBLIC LEISURE AND SOCIAL INTERACTION SPACES IN THE CITY.

CONCEPT: TO EMULATE THE ENVIRONMENT OF A TRADITIONAL INDIAN MARKETPLACE, WITH ELEMENTS LIKE CHOWKS, CHOWRAHAS, MOVEMENT PATTERNS ETC, WHILE UTILIZING THE MODERN UNDERSTAND-ING OF PUBLIC SPACES. THE PROJECT HAS SEVEN WINGS, NAMELY- INFORMAL STREET MARKET, FORMAL STREET MARKET, AN AIRCONDITIONED MALL, MULTILEVEL CAR PARKING, A CULTURAL OAT AND EXTERNAL PERFORMANCE AND DEMONSTRATION SPACES. ATTEMPT IS TO CREATE SMOOTH AND FLUID TRANSITIONS BETWEEN THEM WITH THE USE OF GEOMETRICAL MOVEMENT PATTERNS, WHICH GUIDE THE VISITORS FROM ONE WING TO ANOTHER WING THROUGH VISUAL CURIOUSITY.
