Icebreaker Exercise: Assignment 1 In this assignment we have to reinterpret into Tectonic Form one of the Kazimir Malevich’s (b.1879,d.1935) paints called “Suprematist Composition 2” When I first time saw this painting, I was impressed by the vibrant colors. But the structures of this paint made me confused. The rectangles, triangles, trapezoids are disorderly laid on the picture, which has no logical meaning.
• The first step was to decide which part to choose. I decided to choose the most clear part to design. The part highlighted in red.
When I constructed the final piece I noticed that all of the pieces held a certain symmetry to one another. The all were in a stair case shape. Each one was 1 inch higher then its predecessor.
• On my second
assignment, I made a mistake. I do another different model. This one is just next to my first one.
Assignment 3 • On my third
assignment. I change my idea to 3D. You can looking at it in difference point of view.
From every angle this building model is in a triangle shape. As you can see as you enter the building you’ll notice the elevation will change as you get to the center of the building.
This is the structural framing of my building model. This structure forms the actual shape of the building which allow the building to be in this triangular. This building was inspired by the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia. Triangle is also the most stable structural form.
Sydney Opera House
Conclusion I find this class interesting and challenging.
There are a bunch of vocabularies that I did not know before. But during the assignment through the building models and researching, it allowed me to learn new vocabulary and also the meanings. I would like to overcome this difficulties challenge and I am also looking forward to more exciting challenging experiences from this class (Arch 101).
