Mobile, Arch 101 Final Proposal.

Moving Sculptures:!!Mobile:!!Adjective: capable of moving or being moved readily.!Noun: a piece of sculpture having delicately balanced units constructed of rods and sheets of metal or other material suspended in midair by wire or twine so that the individual parts can move independently, as when stirred by a breeze.!!
!What I would like to accomplish with this final project is a mobile that is not only a well considered and well crafted thing, but also a functional thing. I would also like to explore more the functionality of movement. How this movements could be transform in energy. How can I create a turbine that could generate energy but at the same time look beautiful!!
Concept: In my last iteration I intended to represent the concept of the flow of ideas or thoughts. Keeping the same concept, my intent is to create a mobile that to reflect myself I want it to be simplicity, tranquility in the exterior but complexity and mystery in the interior. It will be moved by the wind in different direction creating different patterns and range of motion which will represent the different qualities I'm trying to express. !
The site: Outside on the courtyard. !
I would like to mount my mobile in this site because it will have plenty
of wind and natural light which will facilitate its movement. Some of the challenges will be making it resistant to extreme climate, control the light and shadows it will create, making the mobile responsive to the cast of the concrete wall and the sculpture in the wall (and other mobiles if any)!
Critical questions:!!!!I will try to address some of these challenges by designing with the
environment in mind. The cast of the concrete wall can be used to set the rhythm or to mark the different sections (groups) of the mobile. The extreme climate and intense wind could be favorable for generating more energy. I will work on a narrative that will relate the mobile to the sculpture in the wall. !
!The bars and holes in the concrete wall are also another factor to address. They could be used as support to mount the mobile. !
Second op)on for site is the celling right in the entrance of the courtyard. Another challenge n this site is the lack of support to mount the mobile. There is not exis)ng surfaces where the mobile can be a=ached.
