SUN fulfills its mission by offering a range of free exhibits and low cost ancillary education programs that bring art to the community, and inviting the public into the gallery through interesting and affordable programs.

Partnering with Hayward Unified School District musicteachers, the Hayward Band and Orchestra Festival assemblesinstrumental music students from Hayward high schools,middle schools, and elementary schools to play underconductors and music educators.

The mission of the Youth Orchestra of Southern Alameda County (YOSAC) is to support school music programs by offering another venue for participation that includes students from surrounding cities as well as exposure to more orchestral literature.

Predevelopment costs associated with housing construction onapproximately 1.9 acres of property that will be purchased froma local non-profit. Intends to build aprox 52 units of affordableand supportive housing, 28 units of 'tiny homes' that are about200sf each and 24 units of shared factory built housing that looklike single story 6 bedroom 2 bathroom single family homes.

Outreach to homeless Hayward residents who have beenidentified as 'high end user' of police and other emergencyservices by the Hayward PD and jurisdictional staff. The programwill permanently house 8 chronically homeless individuals andprovide outreach to homeless Hayward residents

Support for the Les Marquis House (LMH), a 22-bedemergency shelter for homeless families with children inHayward. LMH serves 35-40 homeless families yearly. Includesassistance with permanent housing, children’s programs,parenting classes, and increasing client income sources.

South Hayward Parish supports residents by providing themwith two days of healthy food each week, and providesoutreach to the homeless community.

CALICO aims to conduct 110 forensic interviews with abusedHayward toddlers, children and teens as well as adults withdevelopmental disabilities, and support 75 related caregivers.The project supports victims/witnesses of sexual and physicalabuse and their families and facilitates multi-agency responsesto abuse

10 weeks of summer day camp for children entering kindergarten through high school. The program includes recreational and educational activities that allow children to learn, grow and thrive in the summer months and funding would assist in low-income families with access to childcare.

211 is a free, multilingual phone line available 24/7 that provides health, housing and human services information and referral. During FY 2015-2016 Eden I&R handled just under 12,000 calls from Hayward residents.

SERVICES – LEGAL SERVICESFAMILY VIOLENCE LAW CENTER

Recommended Funding: $40,000

The Family Violence & Homelessness Prevention Project works to enable families to leave a domestic violence situations without becoming homeless or experiencing further injury. Direct legal assistance to 65 families, 12 individuals will receive assistance obtaining court orders, housing services to 10 individuals, service referrals to 100 Hayward victims of DV. Expansion of services in Hayward specifically

IIBA provides legal services and performs educational workshops to Bay Area immigrants. This includes applications for citizenship, permanent residency, work authorization, family based immigration and visas for survivors of crime and domestic violence.

SERVICES – SENIORS & DIFFERENTLY ABLED LEGAL ASSISTANCE FOR SENIORS

Legal Assistance for Seniors will provide legal assistance to low-income seniors (age 60) who live in Hayward, to assist withissues pertaining to elder abuse, guardianship of minorchildren, public benefits, immigration, health law, and otherlegal areas.

Spectrum Community Services Senior Nutrition Program serves seniors 60 and over healthy lunches at six meals sites in Hayward. The Recommended funding is to help cover the costs of the raw food purchased to produce the meals.
