LAWN CARE SERVICEThree reasons we should be your
”
” We’ve always been passionate about caring for your part of the world, and our customers know we can be relied upon to do what’s best for their trees. But somehow, word has still not reached everyone that we apply the same passion, expertise and work ethic to lawn care. So, in case you are one of those customers, here's why we should be caring for your lawn too:
1 We look at the big picture. In a way that’s impossible when services are provided by different companies, we know how to do what’s good for your whole landscape. Holistic care means not focusing on one element in your landscape to the detriment of others, as we’ve seen happen when a lawn care company applied yard chemicals that damaged surrounding trees.
2 We know what’s good for your lawn. Our full lawn care program ensures proper timing for every service. The cumulative effect of regular care provides greener, fuller lawns during the summertime and healthier, stronger turf through drought and seasonal dormancy periods.
3 Nobody does lawns better. After decades of lawn care experience, producing countless of acres of lush grass for our customers, we’ll put our lawn care services up against anybody’s. But when you consider the holistic care only we can provide, there’s no contest.
Now is the time to get started. The most important application to your lawn is pre- emergent crabgrass control and fertilizer, which can go down together in early spring. If you wait until summer when crabgrass comes up, it’s too late. By treating for crabgrass before it emerges, you’ve won the battle.
You don’t have to be a lawn guru. You just have to call us. Then sit back, and wait for summer (and your glorious green lawn) to arrive.

Timing is everything, and springtime is an especially important time to take certain steps to safeguard your trees, shrubs, and lawn. Treating now to control things you won’t even see signs of until later in the year is fundamental to getting ahead of disease and insects.
Looking ahead, I can say this: if you have a plant health care program in place, your odds of coming through 2019 without problems are greatly improved. Healthier plants withstand weather extremes better, and are less vulnerable to disease. That goes for your lawn too, where healthy roots can ward off all kinds of trouble.
WHAT TO DO AND WHENWe’ve already gotten started on spring applications for 2019. Spring fertilization of trees and shrubs gets them started on the right foot for the growing season. Soil injection can be used to prevent insect problems later, controlling pests such as boxwood leaf miner, aphids on tulip-poplars, and Japanese beetles on a variety of trees, shrubs and plants.
The most common disease of conifers like spruce and fir is needlecast, a fungal disease. The tree tends to look sickly and thin, losing needles from the bottom up. If your evergreen looks unhealthy but you can’t put your finger on it, your tree may have a needlecast disease.
Like needlecast, apple scab is caused by a fungus, and is controlled during the growing season with a protective spray coating that will neutralize any spores that land on the foliage.
RECOVERING FROM A WET YEARIt was so wet and rainy last year, we had tons of issues with foliage, and here we are still drying out in the first part of 2019. Not knowing what this year will bring, we recommend that the best way to protect plants is to get those preventive applications done in the spring.
We are still keeping a close eye on spotted lanternfly, and urge you to let us know if you see any suspicious egg masses or adult insects.
We also continue to treat for and monitor the emerald ash borer, that now-familiar killer of ash trees. If you have an untreated ash tree that’s not infested, frankly I’m shocked. I’m glad to say we have the technology to fight off EAB, but as the infestation progresses, the odds of success dwindle.
NOW’S THE TIME for action

The general idea of mulching under a tree is to replicate the forested environment, where the ground is covered with a protective layer of organic matter.
In your yard, a circle of mulch helps retain moisture and repress weeds, while keeping mowers and string trimmers at a safe distance to prevent wounds that can open up the tree to disease and insect infestation.
On the other hand, putting down too much mulch is the most common mistake in landscaping. Everyone wants a nice neat mound, but piling mulch against the trunk makes it dark and moist where it should be dry, encouraging insects, girdling roots and disease. So just say no to too much mulch!

“ A friend referred us to Arborist Enterprises about ten years ago, and we always have found the service to be exceptional. We have an ash tree that is still healthy thanks to the emerald ash borer treatments, a crabapple that benefited from spraying and a silver maple that's always pruned to keep dead limbs from falling on the house. During our last service, the guys left our yard cleaner than when they arrived!”
