This Pre-Service Teaching Portfolio was prepared and developed to

provide and share experiences for those who will undergo the same

undertakings. Teacher strategies, experiences and lesson that I had learned

were shared. This portfolio serves as a mirror of the practice teacher for them

to progress and achieve their goal as a pre-service teacher. It’s a document

that need to reflect on to lighten each individual skills. It relates to the learned

theories that applied inside the classroom environment. Much like a

laboratory journal, a portfolio is a space for you to record and think about

your teaching of students both in and outside of the classroom. Another

purpose of this practice teaching portfolio is that it assess the pre-service

teacher’s learning for the preparation in the future life in facing the real world

of teaching.

Dear God,

As I do my duties as a student teacher today

I ask you to bless me that I may be an instrument of you love.

When my students tries my patience, help me to be kind.

When they do well, remind me to give a compliment.

Give me strength so that I may be able to do my lesson plans every day.

Lord, let me always come in the classroom prepared.

Enlighten me with the power of your Holy Spirit

That I may be able to discern what motivates each of my students.

Help me not to judge my students too harshly,

To be fair to all, and to just keep it cool.

Lord, bless my students and help them as they grow.

May I teach them the things they need to know.

From dullness keep us away,

Let joy and fun be in the room today.

In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

I believe that teaching is not a profession but a vocation, demanding dedication

and a deep sense of commitment.

I believe that I am a co-worker with God, in the divine task of molding and

forming the young and growing minds and hearts entrusted to my care.

I believe that every child is special and must be treated as such.

I believe that I must honor and respect the implicit pleas of every child to me, his

teacher, to become what he can be.

I believe that I must be courteous, humane and kind in all my dealings with my

colleagues and my students.

I believe that I must cooperate with the management and the authorities,

respecting their decisions and rules, yet never hesitating to express my own point

of view.

I believe that having willingly chosen to be a teacher, I must also be willing to

respond sincerely with the effort, dedication and zeal, that teaching demands and

deserves.

1st Week

December 1- December 5, 2014

This is our first week in Commonwealth High School. In our first day, we met the faculty

of TLE and gave us a warm welcome. We eat together with the faculty at the Electricity Room.

After eating we talk to the TLE head and masters. They assigned us a work to do. We made a stars

and parol using the materials that they gave. I achieved to do it and having our unity and

cooperation to do the task. On the next day Sir Santos delivered us on our Cooperating teacher.

On our vacant time we continue to make parol and stars. On the third day we finished the parol

and star and we hang it on the part of the buildings of the school together with the teachers. The

parol and star are hang on the building s of the High School. I introduced myself to my students in

observation class and Grade 7 class. I start teaching on the 4th year students. I have my first topic

which is the Alignment of Image in HTML.

2nd Week

December 8- December 12, 2014

There are no classes in Monday and Tuesday because of the typhoon. Wednesday is the

first class of this week. I discuss a new lesson to the 4th year students. The student learned the

lesson and practices the coding in the computer laboratory. I checked their works and I can see

that they learned and applied the lesson that I taught. I also taught them how to insert video in the

website. But before we start our lesson, we dance first in our class. We record our dance and the

recorded video will be our perfect example in my lesson. They are so active in the class and very

excited to insert the video in the website. I achieve to handle them well, get their full attention and

having an exact example for the given lesson. I started my first practice teaching in the afternoon.

I had my topic about Triangles. I delivered well my topic to them, since this is my first time

teaching on the Grade 7.

3rd Week

December 15- December 19, 2014

This is the last week of the class in this year. I still had my lesson in my 4th year class. I

continue the discussion of inserting videos. I accomplished to finish my lesson to them about

inserting music and videos before the year ends. I tried to finish the lesson because they have their

project during their vacation. This week we started our practice in our Christmas Party

performance. We practiced after our classes inside the school. I attended the Christmas Party of

Page 16: Araojo Pre Service Practice Teachihng Portfolio

III. PROCEDURE:

A. Preparatory Activities

1. Daily Routine

1.1 Greetings

1.2 Prayer

1.3 Checking of attendance and

1.4 Maintaining the cleanliness of the classroom

2. Review

Solve Me and Choose Me

All students are part of the review.

The teacher will give a set of numbers to be solved.

The student will raise their hand if they know the answer.

Page 25: Araojo Pre Service Practice Teachihng Portfolio

P a g e | 24

The first student who will raise their hand will be given a chance to

hear his answer.

The answer to each question is the different angles of the triangles.

If the students are correct, they will choose from letter A to E the

different angle corresponds to their answer in degree.

QUESTIONS:

1. 55 – 40 =

2. 5 X 2 + 20 =

3. 9 X 5 =

4. 300 / 5 =

5. 30 + 45 =

ANSWER KEY:

1. 15˚ letter C.

2. 30˚ letter A.

3. 45˚ letter D.

4. 60˚ letter E.

5. 75˚ letter B

3. Motivation

By using mathematical operations in our review we can get the correct

degree of an angle. After knowing the angles we can draw lines through the

use of triangles. Using mathematical operations is very helpful in our daily lives.

Likewise in our lesson today we need to use mathematical operations to

convert fractions to decimal.

4. Unlocking of difficulties

Fraction - A fraction is part of a whole. It's less than 1 whole thing, but more

than 0.

3 – Numerator

4 – Denominator

B. DEVELOPMENT OF THE LESSON

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

The teacher will ask the students on

how to change fractions to decimals.

Page 26: Araojo Pre Service Practice Teachihng Portfolio

P a g e | 25

The teacher will ask the students to

convert the fraction of half of a pizza

into decimal.

For example class, My pizza might be

cut into 8 pieces. If I ate 1 pizza, How

many pizza are left? That would be

represented as? How we will convert it

into decimal?

The students will know the ways on

how to convert fractions to decimals by

the following:

Any rational number can be changed

from fractional form to decimal form.

This is done by simply dividing the

numerator by the denominator.

Example:

4 = 0.8

5 5 )4.0

4 0

0

Therefore 4/5 equal 0.8

Sir, it would be represented as 7/8.

Sir, we will divide the numerator of the

fraction by the denominator.

Divide 7 by 8.

Page 27: Araojo Pre Service Practice Teachihng Portfolio

P a g e | 26

If I ate again one pizza, Class how

many pizza are left? That would be

represented as? How we will convert it

into decimal?

If I gave the third slice of a pizza to my

sister. How many pizza are left, that

would be represented as? How we will

convert it into decimal?

Therefore 7/8 is equal to 0.875

Sir, it would be represented as 6/8.

Sir, we will divide the numerator of the

fraction by the denominator.

Divide 6 by 8.

Therefore 6/8 is equal to 0.75

Sir, it would be represented as 5/8.

Sir, we will divide the numerator of the

fraction by the denominator.

Divide 5 by 8.

Therefore 5/8 is equal to 0.625

Page 28: Araojo Pre Service Practice Teachihng Portfolio

P a g e | 27

If I gave the fourth slice of pizza to my

mother. How many pizza are left? That

would be represented as? How we will

convert it into decimal?

The teacher will give ways on how to

round off decimals.

Sir, it would be represented as 4/8.

Sir, we will divide the numerator of the

fraction by the denominator.

Divide 4 by 8.

Therefore 4/8 is equal to 0.50

The ways to round off numbers to

decimals are the following:

1. If the first number to be eliminated is

less than 5, simply drop it (and the

number to the right of it) and let the last

significant digit stand.

2. If the number to be eliminated is 5 or

more, drop the number, then add one

to the last digit retained.

C. CLOSING ACTIVITY

1. Generalization

Converting decimal to fraction helps to have an accurate standard

measurement. Converting fractions to decimal helps to have an accurate

measurements up to two decimal places.

2. Valuing

As students respectively apply their skills in converting fractions to decimals

they will develop their obedience, patience and cooperation.

Page 29: Araojo Pre Service Practice Teachihng Portfolio

3. Motivation

It is a fact or a bluff:

Since this is my first day to my students and I didn’t know them yet.

I will ask the ten students to introduce themselves to me and give two words

that best describe them. The remaining students will write on their paper the

horizontal and vertical line. In the front page is the horizontal and in the back

of it is the vertical line. The horizontal line will represents true and the

vertical line will represents false. When the ten students introduce

themselves and give their two words that best describe them, I will ask the

remaining students to raise their horizontal or vertical line. If they raise the

horizontal line it means that the given two words of the students is true and

I will ask one students from them to explain why. I will also ask the students

who raise the vertical line.

4. Unlocking of difficulties

align = horizontal alignment

valign = vertical alignment

hspace = horizontal space

vspace = vertical space

B.DEVELOPMENT OF THE LESSON

Vertical and Horizontally Align Image

Use the align and valign attributes to place images within your body, tables

or sections.

<align= “alignment”> (for horizontal alignment)

Ex: <align= “right”> (left, center)

<valign= “alignment”> (for vertical alignment)

Ex: <valign= “top”> (bottom, center)

Ex: <img src= “sunset.gif” align=”right”>

<img src= “sunset.gif” valign=”top”>

<img valign=”bottom” src=”33.jpg”>

<img align= “center” src=”32.jpg”>

<hspace= “n”>

<vspace= “n”>

Display the text near or far from the image. Hspace establishes a margin or

white space (in pixels) to the left and right or a graphic image. Vspace establishes

a margin or white space (in pixel) above and below a graphic image.

Page 34: Araojo Pre Service Practice Teachihng Portfolio

P a g e | 33

Ex: <img src=”clown.jpg” hspace=”20” vspace=”20”

C.GENERALIZATION

In preparing a webpage the use of images and text are always present.

Thus, learning vertical and horizontally align images helps to give emphasis to the

images or even the text. It will also produce a right combination of images and text

on the same webpage that is pleasing to the eye of the end user.

D. APPLICATION

The students will go to the computer laboratory to perform the following

tags:

<img src=”______.jpg” align= “left”>

<img src=”______.jpg” align= “right”>

<img src=”______.jpg” align= “center”>

<img src=”______.jpg” hspace=”50”

an extension cord especially the male plug and the flat cord.

Motive questions: How we will be going to connect the flat cord to the male plug to

form an extension cord?

4. Unlocking of Difficulties

o Extension Cord- an insulated, flexible electric wire fitted with a plug at one end

and one or more outlets on the other.

o Underwriter’s knot- keep cords from being pulled from cord plugs. An

Underwriter’s knot is a simple and effective way to support the cord within the

plug and give the connection some durability.
