Arctic DAy: tAste the snow | Multi-Activity tour
Winter dAy-tours | Whitehorse
Our full day sightseeing tour travels to the takhini River area, just outside Whitehorse. Our first stop is drag ‘n’ Fly Kennels, where you’ll assist in harnessing and hooking up your own team of alaskan huskies before being whisked away in the sled basket on a wonderful trip around the shoreline of a small lake with your own private musher at the helm of your team. an ideal tour for those who just want a taste of dog sledding without embarking on an ex-pedition, participants who are interested, will then have the opportunity to drive their own team in comfort, knowing your guide is travelling with you in the sled basket.
after you’ve had a warm beverage and said good bye to the wonderful huskies, we’ll depart to the yukon Wildlife Preserve where you’ll have the opportunity to view and photograph wildlife in its natural habitat. dalls sheep, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, mule deer, wapiti (elk), woodland caribou, wood bison, musk-ox, moose and even lynx can all seen on this tour, usually up close! to cap of a great day, we’ll travel to the nearby takhini Hotsprings. the outdoor hot springs pool provides a warm sanctuary amid the cold winter weather and is a must-do activity while visiting Whitehorse!
Returning to your Whitehorse hotel, you’ll have time to relax and have some dinner. Our guide will return to pick you up around 9:30pm to transfer you to our private Northern Lights viewing location. you’ll enjoy an evening of northern lights around a roaring campfire, en-joying the hospitality of our guides and the company of fellow travellers while watching the Northern Lights soaring overhead (conditions permitting). tour includes an indoor “warm-up” area, snacks and warm beverages.

Snowshoeing is one of the best ways to enjoy the tranquility of the yukon wilderness and to photograph the stunning yukon landscape. On our half day snowshoeing tour, you’ll get to strap on a pair of lightweight modern snowshoes and experience the rugged back-country just like the gold miners, trappers and fur traders of days gone by. tour visits a scenic location in the Whitehorse area backcountry. Wildlife such as spruce grouse, foxes, coyotes and snowshoe hares is occasionally spotted at a distance. Guided tour includes transfers, snowshoes, warm beverage and a snack.

experience the yukon wilderness at a faster pace on our day and half day snowmobile tours in the stunning mountains above Whitehorse surrounding Fish Lake. the roar of the snow-mobile engine and the speed of travel along the trail are infectious along the trail, the guide will point out the tracks of the many species of wildlife that patrol the yukon forest, including the tracks of 2 large groups of wolves that live on the outskirts of Whitehorse.
Half day tour includes a snack and a warm beverage. Full day includes a hearty trailside lunch of moose stew or chili and the “catch of the day” - while the guide prepares the campfire, tour participants have the opportunity chance to try another favourite local activity; ice fishing). We’ll drill holes through the 1 meter thick frozen surface of a lake, and try for a lake trout or northern pike. (fishing permit required)

the capital of the yukon, Whitehorse, offers a charming inside to the history of the North. We will visit the Visitor Centre to learn about the different regions of the yukon. We will visit the SS Klondike, a paddlewheeler ship used in the Goldrush and then we will visit the Fish Ladder and Log Skyscraper. to finish with an inspiration of the North we will have a guided tour through the Macbride Museum.
