Parrots really can talk! Check out this video to see an amazing African gray parrot who can say over 350 words! It’s a Youtube video, so it may not work at school. If you are at home, ask your parent’s permission first.

The author, Kate DiCamillo, uses non-standard language when writing this book. An example is when she says, “If me and the preacher went off and left him...” This is incorrect grammar. Do you get confused when you should say, “Me and the preacher” or “The preacher and I”? Go to this site to learn when

to use me and when to use I.
