AqUASOx THANK 2010 HOST FAMILIESThe Everett AquaSox would like to give a big
“thank you” to all the 2010 host families for their continued care and dedication to the athletes. The help and support provided through the AquaSox Host Family Program puts the players and coaches in a great position to succeed, and it has paid off mightily this season.AquaSox host families provide a home for the players during the summer season, as well as ensuring reliable transportation to the park on game days and arranging drop-off and pickup for road trips. When not at the ballpark, the host family provides food for the players in the form of “family” meals together after a game or simply stocking the refrigerator with the foods essential to nourish a professional athlete.
Along with these necessities, the AquaSox host families provide support for their players by cheering
the team on while at Everett Memorial Stadium and even traveling with their new “sons” for road games. Our host families are a huge part of the complete Everett AquaSox family, and we are very proud to have them as part of our winning team. Once again, thank you to the 2010 AquaSox host families for their continued support and dedication to the young ballplayers and the team in full. - Teresa Sarsted, Director of Player HousingThank You To:Cernich FamilyChapman FamilyDave and Kathy HopeDale and Jenny DraperDayley FamilyHooper FamilyDoug Hobbs & Traci Lockhart

And if you think “Hotdog” Jones’ Mariner love-fest stops there, well, as they say, you ain’t heard nothin’ yet. Jones has also had two giant foam rubber ngers that say “#1 AquaSox fan” surgically sewn to his arms. “ ey’re a bit problematic during dinner time, or when, well, you know, but it sure gets me noticed a lot as I walk around Memorial Stadium on a sunny afternoon” said the superfan. An aspiring baseball player himself, Robert’s son Bobby “Little Smokey” Jones couldn’t be happier about the indoor mini-Stadium. “I love it.
We even get to take batting practice inside the house when it’s raining. And if you hit a ball completely through the wall, it counts as a triple!” e Jones family has even gone as far as to hire an organ player when entertaining guests. “It’s kind of weird,” says one friend who wished to remain anonymous. “Every 10 minutes we all had to yell “Charge!” and do e Wave. I mean, have you ever tried doing the wave with just four people?” Needless to say, Robert “Hotdog” Jones has taken fandom to fanatical new heights.

Did You Know…?✮ Headed into the series, the AquaSox had already tied for the
most home wins since 2004 with 23 victories at Everett Memorial Stadium
✮ According to the Major League Baseball Rulebook, in the case of a forfeit, as in the Aug. 7 incident with the Boise Hawks, the non-forfeiting team wins the game 9-0. In theory, one run is charged per position player, but no statistics or records and counted for the game.
✮ The only AquaSox pitcher to record triple-digits in strikeouts was Gustavo Martinez back in 2001. Martinez struck out 100 batters in just 84.1 innings pitched (15 starts).
✮ Former AquaSox pitcher Tom Wilhelmsen was named MWL Pitcher of the Week for the Clinton LumberKings and pitched a perfect game through 6.2 innings in a win Aug. 12 to improve to 3-0 with a 0.45 ERA.
✮ There are two Minor League Baseball team names beginning with ‘Tri-City’ in Short-Season Single-A baseball. The Dust Devils, based in Pasco, Wash., are the Short-Season Single-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies in the Northwest League. The Tri-City ValleyCats are the Short-Season Single-A affiliate of the Houston Astros based in Troy, NY.
