• Total production of aquaculture & fisheries (A&F) (2008): 4.6 mil. tons
• Value of export (2008): US$ 4.50 bil.
• A&F sector contributed 4% of total GDP, or 18% of agricultural GDP.
• A&F is the 4th biggest national export (after crude oil, garment and foot wear).
• Vietnam is now ranked as top ten seafood exporters in the world.
• A&F sector accounted for 7.2% of total national export values with 70 types of product sold to 160 countries.
• Labor forces: jobs for >4 mil. people

• Poor pond design and construction.

• Cultured density: 1-3 PL./ m2
• Yield: 150 - 380 kg/ha/5 months

Fishery Productd Processing (FPS):
• FPP has been growing in both totaloutput and technologies, with thediversification of products and greatattention to value-added products.
• In 2008, VN had 470 fishery productsprocessing plants, in which 269 plantswere qualified to export to the EU.
• Many of the larger plants have acquiredthe food safety certifications of theirmajor trading partners (i.e GAP, BAP,SQF...), and 370 companies have beenapplied product quality controls likeHACCP, GMP and SSOP.
• Up to 2008, Vietnam fishery products aresold to 160 countries in the world.
