Fish-processing facilities

Three facilities for fresh water fish

processing

In 2005, EU inspection visited two facilities

One facility for sea fish processing

Preconditions for development of

processing :

EU export license

Increase of breeding in BiH

Page 12: Aquaculture in Bosnia

Advantages

BiH is on EU list of countries for export of fish and fish products

Long tradition of fisheries in BiH

Present technology of breeding

Variety of fish species – 137

Quality and quantity of waters

Great development potentials in this field

Page 13: Aquaculture in Bosnia

Weaknesses

Ministry of Agriculture on state level

Law on Fisheries on state level

Long term strategy of fisheries

development

Loans and funds for development of this

sector

Page 14: Aquaculture in Bosnia

Conclusion

Main precondition for development – EU export license Explore the potential of some river basins in BiH according to

kinds of fish Define concessions based on results Obtain an answer on the real potential of this sector

Developing BH brand in fisheries: Participation of all commercial subjects State support

Ministry of Agriculture on state level: Unique development policy Unique incentive policy

State incentives for development of this sector: Complete system and long term arrangement of this branch of

economy Increase of production - breeding Development of industry

Investments in new fish ponds Investments in development of processing
