The project was to install an aerator and provide maintenance and water quality management to a wet detention pond, located in the town of Menasha, Wisconsin. According to the Aerators and Fountain guidelines listed as Section V.B.2.k of DNR Technical Standard (1001), water must flow horizontally into an intake to minimize the creation of a circulatory pattern from top to bottom within the pond. It also requires aeration equipment to shut off during a rain event that would result in water discharging from the pond. The equipment must remain off as the pond depth returns to the permanent pool elevation. This project proved challenging when WLPR presented it to three different fountain and aerator manufacturers with the specifications needed. AquaMaster Fountains and Aerators located in Kiel, Wisconsin, was the only manufacturer that was able to follow all required conditions and provide the unit in a cost-effective, timely manner. AquaMaster designed and built the two custom units for Wisconsin Lake & Pond Resource LLC with the following required standards: A moisture sensing probe to detect rising water during a rain event. In addition, it detects falling water after the rain event stops. A digital self-resettable timer to keep the equipment off for the set time period after the pond returns to normal to allow adequate settling time for suspended particles. A plate mounted below the intake to assure water is drawn primarily from a horizontal plane. “These are the first units that I am aware of, that have been approved for usage in Wisconsin,” stated Senior Aquatic Manager/President of Wisconsin Lake & Pond Resource LLC, Cory Zickert. “With the help of Dave Wasmer and Jason Gangaway of AquaMaster, together we were able to complete the project according to DNR Standards.” New Wisconsin DNR Standards Prove Challenging 1.800.693.3144 Choose the Industry Leader for Quality and Dependable Fountains, Aerators and MasterClear Natural Microbial Products for all your aquatic requirements. The Classic Series, our traditional fountain, is built with a propeller that pushes the water through the float tube to produce a water jet. When water flows through the nozzles a beautiful spray pattern is created.

The Master Series® uses a Stainless Steel impeller that pulls the water through the column; this causes a different effect all together. The Gallons Per Minute (GPM) are increased which causes a higher discharge pressure, resulting in greater pattern heights and widths with less HP. The Masters Series® offers 30 beautiful spray patterns to choose from in addition to having the 7.5 and 10HP units available.

Which unit should I select? Both units are capable of producing astonishing fountain displays as well as aeration benefits. Because the Classic Series was our original unit, and they are so well built, you will see a lot of these fountains out in the field. You may need to keep the pattern similar or some prefer to have smaller spray patterns. The Masters Series® line offers more variety with less energy consumption. This unit has been engineered and built with completely new technology. When in doubt, feel free to call your Regional Sales Manager.

What is the difference between the Classic Series Fountain and the Masters Series® Fountain?
