BACKGROUND OF BOTTLED WATER

The first bottled waters were sold as 'miracle cures’ at the springs where the water came from.

Bottled water is drinking water, carbonated water, mineral water, distilled water, spring water, well water, or de-ionized water packaged in plastic bottles or glass bottles.

Sizes range from small single serving PET bottles to large carboys for water coolers.

The global bottled water sales have increased around $60 billion and a volume of more than 115 million liters.

The global rate of consumption has quadrupled between 1990 and 2005.

Spring water and purified tap water are currently the leading global sellers.

AQUA FINA- PROFILEAquafina is a brand of bottled water. It was launched in America in 1988. It is the top bottled water in America. After doing a good business in the other countries of the world it has recently been launched in Pakistan.

1994It was first distributed in Kansas and was distributed across the United States, Canada, Turkey Vietnam Pakistan and India.

2003It became the United States' top-selling bottled water brand.

Aquafina uses PepsiCo's own purification system, which it calls HydRO-7

It includes charcoal filtration, reverse osmosis and Ozona ion.

They claim that this system removes substances that may be in other brands of bottled water.
