Participate in fun, hands-on activities performed by our marine biologists every day, tour behind-the-scenes areas, investigate Bluff Point State Park and (weather permitting) spend some time on the water. In this week- long program, campers participate in three days of research and exploration aboard Project Oceanology’s vessels to discover life in and around Long Island Sound. Then, spend two days at Mystic Aquarium exploring the work being done to protect African penguins, investigate whale snot and learn about efforts to protect horseshoe crabs. Campers spend time on the water, participate in experiments, meet with expert scientists and even go behind-the- scenes to learn about the many conservation opportunities taking place locally. Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm: July 22-26 Cost per week: Members: $445; Non-members: $475 A WEEK IN THE LIFE OF A MARINE BIOLOGIST | Entering Grades 7-10 We have learned that teens love marine biology and yearn to know what it’s like to be a scientist. That is why New England Science & Sailing (NESS) and Mystic Aquarium have joined forces for this exciting program to provide a unique opportunity for teens to experience the best aspects of a career in marine biology. Participants will start their day at NESS performing field research by exploring Little Narragansett Bay by kayak, snorkel, foot and boat. At Mystic Aquarium, campers focus on shark conservation, animal behavior and conservation genetics. This program is designed to give teens a real taste of what it’s like to be a marine biologist. Registration takes place through NESS. ENDANGERED SPECIES | Entering Grades 1-3This action-packed, week-long camp takes your camper on a ‘global’ journey to learn about some of the most endangered animals and ecosystems on the planet. Campers look at species that have come back from the brink of extinction while they learn how they can help others! Camp highlights include hands-on activities, meeting with conservation and animal care experts, touring behind-the-scenes areas and field trips to Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, RI and Bluff Point State Park.

AQUARIUM STEM | Entering Grades 1-3Back again for 2019 WITH NEW ACTIVITIES! This week-long camp, specially designed for the aspiring young scientist, dives into marine biology. With the help of Aquarium staff, campers learn how we use science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) every day to care for the Aquarium’s animals and maintain exhibits, as well as how to protect our ocean planet. Through hands-on activities, games, crafts and trips to Bluff Point State Park and the Connecticut Science Center, campers uncover the mysteries of STEM.

AQUARIUM FUN | Entering Grades 1-6 NEW for 2019! Send your camper on a three-day adventure at Mystic Aquarium where they will explore the Aquarium to discover unique animals and meet with the professionals that care for the animals each day. There is even a fun themed craft to take home at the end of this session.

ECO EXPLORERS | Entering Grades 4-6This camp is a full-day, week-long experience where campers discover estuaries, marshes, fresh water habitats and more! Campers visit Bluff Point State Park to explore coastal habitats and go on an oceanographic cruise with Save The Bay to investigate marine environments. Our staff utilize engaging hands-on activities, games, crafts and meetings with our animal care team to guide your adventurer on an ecological experience.

ANIMAL SPOTLIGHT: AT THE AQUARIUM AND ON THE COAST | Toddlers and their caregivers Spend time with your little one as you learn about aquatic animals and their habitats in one of our interactive classrooms. This program utilizes stories, crafts and activities along with live animals to keep you and your child engaged and learning. The last class of each session is spent going on an adventure to Bluff Point State Park.

SEA STARS | Entering PreK-KSea Stars is a half-day, week-long experience specifically designed for our youngest campers. Hosted in safe and inviting indoor and outdoor spaces, designed just for them, campers learn through hands-on experiences and animal encounters; enjoying fun projects and meeting fascinating Aquarium staff. ANIMAL ANTICS | Entering Grades 1-3Let our energetic staff take your camper on an adventure through the amazing marine world to learn about the Aquarium’s many animals and habitats! Our staff engage and educate campers as they visit behind-the-scenes areas, meet unique animals and learn from animal care staff. Additional camp activities include a field trip to the Children’s Museum in West Hartford and Bluff Point State Park - all to learn about the wonderful world of animal antics.

DINOSAURS! | Entering Grades 1-3We’ll trace the footprints and fossils of prehistoric creatures of the past and explore present day animals like sea turtles and horseshoe crabs! Through hands-on activities, crafts, games, behind-the-scenes visits and fun-filled trips to the Peabody Museum and Bluff Point State Park, campers uncover the connections between animals of land and sea, both past and present.

JUNIOR AQUARIUM CAREERS | Entering Grades 4-6NEW for 2019! Join us on a week-long adventure for campers who want to learn what it’s like to work at an aquarium or on the open ocean. From meeting with animal care experts to visits with our exhibit design team, campers see what it is really like to run a facility like Mystic Aquarium! Added trips to Bluff Point State Park and the Nautilus Museum help campers further explore career opportunities.

MARINE ANIMALS AND THEIR ENVIRONMENT | Entering Grades 4-6Mystic Aquarium and Project Oceanology team up for a week of habitat exploration. Held at both facilities, this camp is specially designed for budding marine biologists. Jointly taught by instructors from both organizations, your camper goes on a journey of investigation to discover how animals survive in endangered ecosystems, adapt to invasive species threats and how some animals survive in the deepest depths of the sea. Extended day is not offered for this camp.

MYSTIC RIVER ADVENTURE | Entering Grades 4-6Participants in this joint camp with Mystic Seaport start their day at the Aquarium with hands-on programs to learn about the conservation of local aquatic ecosystems. Then in the afternoon, campers travel to the Seaport to learn how to sail the Mystic River. This camp provides your child the unique opportunity to see the Mystic River from above and below. Extended day is not offered for this camp.
