ABSTRACT : This study aims to identify differences in terms of Adversity Quotient problem-focused and emotion-focused coping in parents of single women. Single-parent phenomenon is not only happening in Indonesia as a developing country, but also occurs in other advanced countries. Even in many developed countries and industries, the single parent is a common symptom. Since the death of a spouse or divorce, the individual becomes the only responsible for family life. Kartena By that, he had to run all the tasks once performed with her partner, such as home care and meet all the needs of families. These circumstances lead to single parents bear a lot of demands (stressors) in everyday life. It gets heavier burden for women as single parents in Indonesia itself, the community generally considers the negative status of women as single parents. For that needed a strategy to overcome this difficult situation, besides that, it needs its own toughness also for single-parent women to be able to through this difficulty. The independent variables in this study is to stress coping (problem-focused and emotion-focused), whereas the dependent variable in this study is the Adversity Quotient. The study involved 67 female single parents. They are asked to fill out questionnaires Adversity Quotient Scale and Stress Coping Scale questionnaire. Adversity Quotient scale based on three dimensions of Stoltz Adversity Quotient (1997). On this scale shows that of the 80 items tested, there were 52 valid items. Of the 52 items, only 36 items that used to take data for 16 other items are positive items, excluding items was scored. The reliability test result reliability coefficient of 0.9553.. On this scale shows that of the 66 items have been tested, there were 41 valid items. The reliability test result reliability coefficient of 0.9054. According to analysis performed using Mann-Whitney U test found that the value Z = -3.349, and the column Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) is 0.001 or a probability below 0.05 (0.001
