Face into the Storm: Gaining the System Skills Needed to Succeed in the Changing Healthcare Environment June 7, 2013 Boston, MA Register Now! In his 2012 McMillan Lecture, Alan Jette challenged physical therapy professionals to ‘Face into the Storm’ and boldly tackle the challenges of the new century. These challenges include a healthcare system that is increasingly data driven, and where reimbursement is tied to coordination of care and performance. To meet these challenges, physical therapists must develop critical systems skills to collect and examine clinical data to determine what works for which conditions, for which patients and in different settings in order to improve clinical practice and meet reimbursement requirements. This one-day conference, co-sponsored by the APTA and Boston University’s Health & Disability Research Institute, focuses on the need to develop systems skills as a critical component of physical therapy practice. The conference agenda includes a combination of key didactic presentations, case examples of innovative programs, and opportunities for discussion among attendees The target audience for the conference includes innovators seeking to advance the development of systems skills in physical therapy practice. “Our goal must not be to ‘prove’ that physical therapy works, but to discover what works in physical therapy, for what conditions, under what circumstances, to achieve what outcomes, and at what costs.” Alan Jette, PT, PhD 43rd Mary McMillan Lecture, June 2012 View the Conference Agenda Conference Objectives: Confirmed Speakers: Conference Location: Boston University Metcalf Trustee’s Room 1 Silber Way Boston MA, 02215 Registration Fee: $200 Webcast Fee: $75 Accommodations: We are able to offer a discounted group rate of $179.00 a night plus tax at the Holiday Inn Boston-Brookline.
