How can you put into words all the things that are happening in our day? The President says we are at war with an invisible enemy, and we are going to do all we can to defeat this enemy.

Only a few weeks ago I had not even heard the words Coronavirus or Covid-19. Now they have become the focus of daily life, the watch-words around the world. People are becoming ill in great numbers and people are dying. We are all supposed to voluntarily quarantine ourselves to our homes although there is nowhere else to go because many people are afraid of each other and everything is closed. The extraordinary has become the ordinary. We are not to get too close. We are not to shake

hands or hug. We are no longer the people we were.

I am only on day 5 of our 15 days of quarantine and it has given me a great deal of time to think. I have thought a lot about each of you and my prayers are constantly before the throne of God to keep you safe and safe from this virus. I am searching the scriptures for a word from God. I am thankful to be living on this mountaintop and not in one of the hot spots in our land. May our prayers all

continue for those who do live there.

Have you read the passage from 2 Chronicles chapter 7 verse 14? Everybody seems to know it, “If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and heal their land.” The words are comforting at this time; we are in need of humbling. The preceding verse to this one is really one that we need to consider for it says, “If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the

locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among the people”…and then the verse above. Could it be that God is trying to tell us something? Is Australia not in the midst of a great drought? Are not the locust devouring great parts of Africa? Are we not in the midst of a pestilence in the land? Have we prayed? Have we humbled ourselves? Sought His face? There is an “and” connecting those two verses, so it says in essence that if God allows a pestilence to come upon us AND we humble ourselves and pray and seek His face and turn from our wicked ways, He will heal the land. Amazing isn’t it? What is amazing is that there has not been a national call to prayer and fasting. There has not been a national call to seek God in this. It

is all about what the federal government will do. Who can stop a plague?

The other day in a phone conference call with our district superintendent, Rev. Zilhaver, he shared with us a devotion from John chapter 20. Something like this; the disciples had gathered on that first Easter evening in a locked room because they were afraid and it says that Jesus came to them and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” Don’t you find it relative to our being in “locked rooms” because we are afraid. We are in fear of the plague? We should not be afraid. We should be rejoicing because Jesus is here with us, each one of us, in our “locked rooms.” And He wants us to have peace because He is right here with

us.

We are people who profess to know Jesus Christ as Lord and as Savior. Is it not time for us to start to live what we profess? How can we be in fear if Jesus is Lord? “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory

that has overcome the world—our faith” (1 John 5:4).

“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world” (John

16:33)

We really need to pray.

Celebrate the resurrection!

See you in church!

Pastor Denton

From the Somerset Daily

American:

When customers place their purchases on the checkout counter inside a new Ralph Lauren or Louis Vuitton shop, they may not realize that counter was made in

Somerset County.

For the past few years, Jason Breegle’s Somerset Millwork and Cabinet Makers Inc. has been the sole provider of checkout counters, product displays and office cabinets for new Ralph Lauren shops popping up around the country. “We do 12 to 20 stores a year,” he said, “which isn’t a ton, but it’s one a month or more.” Breegle’s business also provides all of the kitchen cabinetry for every Lowe’s Home Improvement in southwestern Pennsylvania. He said Lowe’s gravitated to his business because he’s the only manufacturer that builds and installs the cabinets, which makes life easier for the Lowe’s salesmen. Somerset Millwork also does custom cabinets, home entertainment systems, pre-engineered cabinets and cabinets inside campers built by Xtreme Outdoors in Somerset. “I knew just one area of expertise was ultimately not good for the future,” he said. “Then we got into

the more residential and noncommercial.”

With all of his success and rapid expansion in the last few years, it’s hard to believe the 40-year-old from Scullton almost lost everything. “There was a moment when I almost didn’t do it at all,” Breegle said. In the early days of his business, 16 years ago, Breegle’s shop did work solely in courtrooms — that was, until the Great Recession in 2008-09. “As a teenager, I worked for my uncle until I was 21. Then I decided to go out for myself,” he said. “We did courtrooms and that was good. Then the market crashed.” With his passion for the job, Breegle decided to keep at it and diversify. “I decided I wanted to give it another shot,” he said. Through word of mouth, he built relationships with Ralph Lauren and other retailers, building their counters and cabinets. “Once you connect to other retailers outside Somerset, it opens up,” Breegle said. Now he employs 21 people, including designers, receptionists and shop workers at his new location along Berlin Plank Road outside Somerset. “My goal is to make not just more jobs, but higher-quality jobs,” he said. By paying better than his competitors, Breegle can keep his employees around for a long time, he said. Some of his employees have been with him nearly 10 years. “We have a great core of guys here,” he said. “They’re all company-oriented people. and they’re here to make it bigger and better because

Dear church family,

As the concerns for the Covid-19 virus continue to occupy our everyday life and the media so causing us to be vigilant and wise, it is with great sadness and yet with your safety in mind that I write to tell you that the things that are traditionally a part of the Easter season must be set aside. Therefore, we will not be having a traditional Palm Sunday service nor will we be sharing palm branches. We will not be sharing in the Maundy Thursday service with the stripping of the altar. We will be having a time of open communion in the sanctuary on Good Friday and invite you all to come and take of the sacrament. We are hoping to share a time of resurrection on Easter morning in the parking lot with a sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. There will not be a breakfast this year nor will there be an Easter egg hunt. We are

still on hold as to whether we will have a traditional Easter Sunday service.

Please know that it is difficult to close all the activities and the worship services; however, our hope is in coming together as quickly as we safely can. We are the church and we can continue to worship our Lord in our homes together. We need to be the church and allow the world to see our faith is not in where we are but who we are. We are those who trust in the risen Christ and who wish to share Him with

others. Be the church.

Pastor Denton

On another note:

“Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an

abundance for every good deed.”

2 Corinthians 9:7-8

Please know your financial support of the church is still needed. We still have things that need to be paid; we still have ministries and obligations that need to be met so we need your continued giving to meet all those needs. Whether you wish to give to the general fund, the missions fund, the Good Samaritan fund, or any

other fund please mail your tithe, your offering and your gifts to the church at:

Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church

God bless your giving as you are able.

He was presented with an autographed copy of Tom Hindman’s book “The Perfect Pursuit.” Salmon cakes, teriyaki venison meatballs, pheasant, squirrel pot pie, venison chili, grilled trout and beef tongue and a variety of desserts were among the menu

items.

Our 15th annual Wild Game Dinner is now history. As part of the organizing committee, I extend a large and heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped to make the event a huge success. It takes many helpers and much work to pull this off. It is impossible to thank each person for fear of missing someone, but the youth were

There is a story they tell of two dogs. Both at separate times walk into the same room. One comes out wagging his tail while the other comes out growling. A woman watching this goes into the room to see what possible could make one dog so happy and the other so mad. To her surprise she finds a room filled with mirrors. The happy dog found a thousand happy dogs looking back at him while the angry dog saw only angry dogs growling back at him. What you

see in the world around you is a reflection of who you are.

To family and friends of Wesley Chapel,

With sincere gratitude, we wish to thank you for your cards, calls and

of course, delicious food.

The prayers from all of you carried me through and after my surgery. Nurse Harry is doing great! Please continue to pray for all of us.

Thank you for the beautiful flowers and to Luella for delivering them. Hope to see

The JESUS film project, one of the Billion.Global partners, teamed up with OMS’ evangelism and church planting ministry of Every Community for Christ last fall to get the JESUS film in the hands of more unreached people groups in the villages of Africa where OMS is working.

In previous years, showing the JESUS film re-quired a projector, a generator, three spools of 16 mm film, a large screen, and the darkness of night. Today, the film can be accessed via an app so that a smartphone opens the door for God’s message to be shared. The digital projector, smart card movie storage, pop-up screen, speakers, and solar panels for charging can all be placed into a single backpack that weighs about 23 pounds and can be easily transported to show the film.

To date, OMS has received and distributed 17 backpacks to 17 African countries. At least two showings have taken place, with nearly 500 people making decisions for Christ.

Thank you for your support of OMS and your generous donation that allows ministry like this to happen all around the world. We are grateful!

OMS recently gifted a backpack containing all that is needed to show the JESUS film to our Village Church Planting team in Togo. Nearly 200 people accepted Jesus!

Our suggested food pantry items for April are toilet paper and tissues. You may bring these or other donations to the church during the month of April. We are currently supplying the Rockwood Area Food Pantry located at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Rockwood. Hours for distribution are 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.

The most lovely and heartwarming Christening ever.

My brother’s daughter, Victoria Anderson Neubauer, her husband Mike, and their new son John Robert Neubauer joined Wesley Chapel family to dedicate John

Robert’s life to the teaching of and following of Jesus Christ.

I would like to tell you the story of the gown that John is wearing. It was made anywhere from 100 to 150 years ago in Norway by my Grandmother’s “Maiden Aunt”. The first picture is of my grandmother holding my mother (1924) on my mother’s Christening Day in Norway. During John’s Christening, I felt the warm and loving presence of all my family, of those who have gone before and the

wonderful welcoming of the new Wesley Chapel Family.

My oldest son, Larry Manning and Emmy Danelius, 1972

My youngest son, Von Edward Manning 1976

Emmy Danelius (my grand-mother) & Gerd Danelius (my mother)

My mother, my mother’s sister, all my cousins and my brother (and many others) all wore the “family gown”.

March 15, 2020. They have very tall babies in this family. Welcome to your new family, The Wesley

Chapel – “God Be With You!”
