Please do your best to ensure your child attends school every day Welcome to the summer term! I hope everyone had a good break. Staff and children returned very enthusiastically and it is great to see so many things planned for this term. Our wildlife project continued to develop this week with a lot of children being involved in planting species that are attractive to insects and butterflies. Look at the Wildlife Learning Section of our website for more details. We are expecting some trees to be planted on the school grounds in the next week or so. Some willow arches have also been planted in the ‘quiet area’ near Year 6. These will need time to establish but should look great in the coming years. The recent teacher training day focussed on internet safety and although there has been work in school already, this will be reinforced in the future and there will be some workshops for parents and pupils. Another exciting development that is coming is a new ‘online’ maths package that will be available soon for pupils, both at home and in school. Miss Purdy’s class have been trialling ‘Mathletics’ and their feedback has prompted us to subscribe for a year. Children will be able to compete with themselves as well as all over the world. More details and log ons to follow. Have a good term. John Buxton As part of their topic work, Year 5 experienced an ‘India Day’. The children had the opportunity to sample the culture of India, and participated in Bangra dancing, henna tattooing and sampled Indian food. The dance was enhanced by the children and staff dressing in Indian style clothing. They all looked very colourful.
