K E Y C L U B April Newsletter Division 39, ‘Tis bittersweet, this newsletter. I’ve spent hours upon hours making newsletters for y’all, finding graphics and typing out captions and stalking facebook to find photos. These newsletters have become time consuming, and you just get sucked into them. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading them and looking at them as much as I have enjoyed making them though. I’ll definitely miss this creative part to the job. Key Club this year has been unlike any other year I’ve participated in it. It was more involving and more demanding. I had to not only satisfy my role as a club member but also assist other club officers and keep up with my District Board member duties. At times it was stressful, at times I wanted to scream and cry and cheer and laugh and smile. It’s been quite the journey full of hills and valleys, but I wouldn’t go back and trade it in for anything. Each person I’ve met this year has taught me something valuable that I will forever treasure. I may not be able to remember all the names of the members of your club, but I can surely name a few and spout off a few good memories I’ve had with them. Enough with the jibber jabber, I know! April Newsletter

Division 39,

‘Tis bittersweet, this newsletter. DCON is in just a few days and I hope you are as excited as I am about it. Flip through this newsletter and you’ll see bits and pieces of info that might be handy in planning your trip. I’ll see you there!

They say a picture can say a thousand words, I hope this collage gives you a smidgen of an idea of how successful our year was this year. I am so proud of everything we not only attempted, but everything we accomplished. Things might have not gone our way 100% of the time, but we made the most with what we had and for that I am proud. Thank you for letting me be your Lieutenant Governor this last year and I hope we both came out better because of it. Best of luck in the future!

Contests and Awards

Don’t forget to bring all of your materials for the contests and awards that you, or your club, has chosen to enter. There are contests related to Key Club, such as the Single Service Award, and some contests that are not related to Key Club, such as Oratorical Speaking. Winners will receive trophies and they’ll be littering the tables of the top clubs on Saturday night at the Awards Banquet.

Service Fair/Welcoming Activity

Come see what the other clubs in the District have been up to! They’ll be fun icebreakers and activities to get to know other people too. Also, you might want to bring a few extra dollars for a fundraiser that benefits the Eliminate Project(you can marry another Key Clubber!).

Forums

Attend the forums to get some fun handouts and free candy, in addition to the wealth of knowledge you can learn about multiple Key Club and Leadership related topics. You won’t want to miss out on these!

Farewell Breakfast

Be warned, everyone will be crying, especially the Board who is being removed. Scholarships are awarded at this point, too!

Governor’s Ball It might sound pretentious and it may even be a little awkward at first, but after 10-20 minutes, the floor comes alive with dancing Key Clubbers and I promise, it’s fun!

Caucusing/ H.O.D

Everyone, no matter if you’re an officer or a member can take part and listen to the candidates speeches who are running for District or International office. Your clubs two delegates will attend a special 2 hour session and cast the final votes on candidates and legistlature.

Dear 2012 Texas-Oklahoma District Convention Attendees, I can’t wait to see you April 12-15! Are you as excited for convention as I am? I’m sure some of you have even started packing already… well I’ve attached a suggested packing list for first time convention goers and for those who would like one for reference. Fun fact: my freshman year I packed FOUR bags for convention… and one was just for my SHOES! If Key Club has taught me anything besides leadership, character building, inclusiveness, and caring, then it would definitely be how to pack! I hope you find this list useful, and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions regarding the dress code. Remember that the dress code was on the Convention Bulletin which is on the www.tokeyclub.com and attached for your convenience.

Megan Iselin District Governor
