April-May Issue
Careers Club
So far this academic year, our careers club has been a great success with great feedback from staff, parents and students. We have invited some fantastic speakers in over the past few months, but it doesn’t stop there! During April and May we have:
Alessandro Creazza- Hull University (25th April)
Team member- Ginetta (9th May)
Elisha Ainsley- Performing Artist. (23rd May) These presentations are a chance for students to come and hear about the fantastic career opportunities out there, listen to first hand experiences and ask as many questions as they wish! It is also a chance for the students to pick up contact details for future reference such as work experience. Careers Club is held in the Lecture Theatre on the specified dates at 2:30-3:30pm, all students are welcome. So far this year we have had career talks from:
PC Clarkson- West Yorkshire Police/ The Explorers Programme
Jenny Whitehead- Daniel Yorath House/ Occupational Therapy
Rebecca Reid- Interserve/ Apprenticeships
Newcastle University- Medical Sciences/ Dentistry
Andrew Mitchell- Unilever/ Engineering/ Advanced and Higher Apprenticeships

is relevant to your studies/ future career
ambitions.

your placement!
Remember – Make the most of your time in a work
environment, relevant experience will benefit with
future interviews (both employment & university!).
If you are struggling to find a placement, remember
that there is more than one department in

Do you want extra UCAS points for University? Would you like to develop your analysis, presentation and report writing skills before higher education or employment? Then the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is for you!! Students are required to write a 5000 word report or create an artefact on a topic of their choice. This project will start for Year 12 students after exams. Previous students have researched areas including biology, crime, natural disasters, prisons, dyslexia and much more. If this is something you think you might be interested in look out for further information in assemblies or form times. Thanks Miss Shakespeare
