The Heartbeat of the Northwest is the official publication of the Pacific Northwest Camaro Club and is provided bimonthly to active members. Distribution is also provided, by the direction of the Club President, to other individuals, clubs, and/or commercial enterprises. The Pacific Northwest Camaro Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and enjoyment of the Chevrolet Camaro, and no person shall be denied membership because of age, sex, race, or religion.

From the Editor Wow, this Spring has been busy! Between club events, other Camaro stuff, school, trying to keep up with the grass, and my latest painting- the exterior of my house, there isn’t a lot of time left in the day. Keeping up with stuff for the newsletter requires a lot of attention. With so many club related activities happening, I can’t possibly attend them all, so I’m going to ask for your help to report on them. It doesn’t have to be Pulitzer worthy material, just jot down whatever pertinent information you can think of and send it to me. Pics would be nice too. (Remember, that phone you carry around now, probably has a camera.) Stories are so much better when they’re told by someone who was actually there. So send them in! Thanks!

PNWCC Wins Car Club of the Year Honors at Hot Rod Hall of Fame Banquet
At the Hotrod Hall of fame banquet in Tacoma, PNWCC was honored by being chosen as the 2015 “Club of the
Year”. PNWCC President (And also a past HOF inductee) Don Berry accepted the trophy on behalf of the club.
The award is given annually to a car club that has been deemed to go above and beyond by being active in
their community, has charitable functions and helps promote the hot rod scene in a positive note.
Several PNWCC members were on hand to celebrate the event.

Evergreen Aviation Museum Tour In April, members of PNWCC participated in a joint event with Columbia River Camaro Club at the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville Oregon. Several PNWCC members, including Kirk Olson and Chris Harper with a beautiful ‘69, made the journey to Oregon on Friday. On Saturday morning, we met up with CRCC at the museum. The turnout was incredible. They had representations of every generation of Camaro. If the weather would cooperate, it would make for some terrific pictures. After a buffet catered by the museum, we were free to roam around the gallery and marvel at the amazing collection of historical aircraft. Of course, in spite of all the examples of rare and history making planes like the B-17, and a Messerschmitt ME 262, one could not help but notice that the room was dominated by one plane in particular: The one and only Spruce Goose. Some of us took advantage of the opportunity to go aboard and tour the flight deck. It was awesome to be able to sit in the same seat as such a monumental figure in aviation history. Later, we rejoined CRCC for group photos around the museum. The weather held long enough to get some great shots. We had a terrific time. Thanks to CRCC President James Dean and PNWCC Activities Director Maggie Gregory for putting this joint event together!

PNWCC Hockey Night in Everett
In March, PNWCC members had great seats in Everett at a game between the visiting Victoria Royals and the
home team Silvertips. Among the attending members were hockey veterans James and Darlene Tremblay as
well as hockey newcomers Mark and Sarah Buonocore. Mark is a hardcore sports fan in general, but had never
attended a live hockey game. With terrific seats right on the glass, it didn’t take him long to get right into the
action, and he was up pounding on the glass like a true hockey fan. James and Darlene already know their way
around a rink, having been Detroit Redwings fans from back in Michigan. (I wonder if they know we have a
PNWCC member named Nicklas Lidstrom?)
Unfortunately the Silvertips lost to the Royals, but it was a very exciting and close game throughout. There
were plenty of scuffles and even a late period goal to keep the crowd on its toes.
Mike Cox Wins CCC Opener in Bremerton After being plagued with a number of frustrating moments in last year’s Car Club Challenge, PNWCC’s Car Club Challenge Captain, Mike Cox came out swinging at the opening race of the 2015 season. Mike and his ’93 Camaro fought through the semi-finals to reach a final showdown with a SRT8. He defeated the Mopar, for what will hopefully be remembered as his first win of the 2015 season. It’s also worth noting that Team Ford watched the final race as spectators. Congratulations Mike! Here’s hoping you rack up a few more wins in the upcoming season!

It was a full day of watching heritage planes fly by and great static displays. Sam Besser's grandson even got
the opportunity to go for a ride in the sky. “Biggest grin ever”, as Sam put it. There was a super car display also.

2015 All Camaro Show will be held on July 19th at the XXX Root Beer Drive-in located in Issaquah. This will be a first in many years that the PNWCC flagship show will be for Camaros only.
