HORTICULTURE SERIESPlanting For All Seasons

We have all driven the streets of Washington Township during the summer and marveled at the gorgeous plantings scattered throughout the community. Then we pull into our driveway and grumble, “Why can’t I do that?” Well, now is our chance.

Whether you have large outdoor beds crying for attention or patio pots needing TLC our horticulture series brings out the best of both worlds.

Master Gardener Yvonne Dunphe takes you from designing the perfect displays to planting and maintaining them throughout the seasons, whether they be in the ground or in a pot. She has been the horticulture consultant at Washington Township for 15 years and a Five Rivers MetroParks employee for 18 years, so who better to help you re-create our beautiful community displays than the person responsible for it all?

The series includes educational presentations to teach you the basics, and demonstrations to give you hands on experience with both beds and containers. The only fee is for container planting since you leave the class with all the plants you need to plant your own container at home.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from an expert, dazzle your friends and family (but more importantly yourself ) and possibly provide volunteer help with the township’s garden beds.

This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the mission.
