Monday to Friday — 12:40 p.m. +
Saturdays — 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. +
Tuesday, April 16 — 7:30 p.m. +
Wednesdays, April 10 and 17 — 6:30 to 8 p.m. +

Good Friday, April 19 — 9 to 10 a.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. +
Holy Saturday, April 20 — 9 a.m. (No Confessions at 4 p.m. on Holy Saturday)
PALM SUNDAY NEXT WEEKEND Next Sunday, April 14, is Palm Sunday, commemorating the triumphal entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem. The event is mentioned in each of the four canonical Gospels. As part of our Palm Sunday Masses (including the 5 p.m. Vigil Mass on Saturday, April 13), we will distribute blessed palm fronds representing the branches the crowd scattered in front of Jesus as he rode into the city. As the priest processes into the Basilica for Mass, the faithful will hold the palm fronds high, reenacting the crowd’s adoration and support of Jesus. A day of celebration, Palm Sunday also marks the beginning of Holy week and the final seven days of Jesus’ earthly ministry.
PRAYING FOR PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS I encourage you to participate in a prayer service here in the Basilica on Monday, April 8, at 7:30 p.m. to pray for our Christian brothers and sisters who are being persecuted around the world for practicing their faith. The service is being sponsored by our Knights of Columbus Council. According to Open Doors’ 2019 World Watch List, a report that examines global Christian persecution, 11 Christians are killed for their faith every single day. If left unchecked, the report says, 2019 will see the deaths of 4,015 of our brothers and sisters in Christ. (You can read more at www.opendoorsusa.org.) In the face of such heartbreaking numbers, we need to stand together as one Church, holding firm to our beliefs and pursuing freedom of worship for all. Let us pray for the many Christians in the world who still suffer persecution and violence.
CALLED TO HOLY ORDERS Arlington Bishop Michael F. Burbidge has formally called four men to be ordained to the Holy Priesthood on Saturday, June 8, 11 a.m., at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Arlington. They are: Rev. Mr. Nicholas Blank, Rev. Mr. Edouard Guilloux, Rev. Mr. Sean Koehr and Rev. Mr. William Nyce. Rev. Mr. James Waalkes has delayed his petition for ordination to the priesthood. The Bishop also has called three men to ordination to the Transitional Diaconate on Saturday, June 1, 11 a.m. at St. Thomas More Cathedral. They are: Mr. Peter McShurley, Mr. Joseph Moshetto and Mr. Charles Pavlick. Please keep these men in your prayers as they prepare for their ordination. May Our Lord Jesus Christ continue to guide them and shower His grace on them.

We are determined to continue this im-portant work, but we need your help. Checks can be written to SVDP, marked for our Prevent Eviction Fund, and dropped in the Poor Box or at the Parish Office or via Faith Direct at St. Mary’s website. Click on St. Vincent de Paul. This Lent, let us work together to keep people in their homes.
