St. Anselm Catholic Church

April 3, 2016 Second Sunday of Easter

The risen Christ comes to his disciples with peace and the Spirit. The absent Thomas doubts. (John 20:19-31).

St. Anselm’s Parish is a Catholic community formed by families, individuals and clergy that worship together, celebrate the sacramental life of the Church, and seek to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ

everyday. We welcome, serve, and educate.

Page 2: April 3, 2016Mass Schedule: Saturday: 5:00 pm Sunday: 8:00 am, 10:00 am & 5:00 pm Weekday Mass: Mon.— Fri. 8:00 am Tues. & Thurs. 5:30pm

Dear Parishioners, The Gospel reading of this Sunday is about the resur-rected Jesus appearing to the apostles and to Thomas. Mistakenly, Thomas is called the doubter. Thomas did not lack faith. In John 11:16 Thomas says, “Let us go to

Jerusalem and die with him.” It is not because he doubted but that he was not going to be fooled. He wanted to see the holes made by the nails. He want-ed to experience it for himself. When he finally met Jesus, he came out with the most profound and deepest profession of faith, “My Lord and my God.” I would like to thank all the volunteers who worked very hard to make every liturgy in the Holy week a very prayerful experience. I would like to thank in a special way Ed, Bob and Bernie, our three dea-cons, for all the work they did. I would like to thank Michael Mello and the Choir for the wonder-ful music. I would like thank Nick Case, who di-rected the RCIA program. My thanks I would like to extend to the other members of the staff, Ann Roggenbuck, Sissy Ratto and Rose Shadduck. Thank you! Yours Sincerely, Fr. Jose Shaji, Pastor

Divine Mercy Sunday Divine Mercy Sunday typically involves many people gathering to celebrate Holy Masses at which God's mercy is proclaimed. To observe the feast of Mercy: A) Cele-brate the feast on the Sunday a er Easter (or its Vigil) B) Sincerely repent all of your sins. C) Place your complete trust in Jesus. D) Go to Confession, preferably

before the feast. E) Receive Holy Communion on the day of the Feast (or its vigil). F) Venerate* the image of The Divine Mercy. G) Be merciful to others, through your ac ons, words, and prayers on their behalf. A Plenary Indulgence can be obtained by fulfilling the usual con-ditions. *To venerate a sacred image or statue simply means to perform some act or make some gesture of deep religious respect toward it because of the person whom it represents — in this case, our Most Merciful Savior.

The Chaplet of The Divine Mercy How to Recite the Chaplet The Chaplet of Mercy is recited

using ordinary rosary beads of five dec-ades. The Chaplet is preceded by two opening prayers from the Diary of Saint Faustina, followed by a closing prayer. 1. Make the Sign of the Cross in the

name of the Father and the Son and the

Holy Spirit. Amen. 2. Optional Opening Prayers You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and

the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life,

unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Your-

self out upon us. (Repeat three times) O Blood and Water, which

gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I

trust in You! (then pray) 3. Our Father 4. Hail Mary 5. The Apostle's Creed 6. The Eternal Father Eternal Fa-

ther, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly

Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and

those of the whole world. 7. On the Ten Small Beads of Each Decade For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. 8. Repeat for the remaining decades Saying the "Eternal Father" (6) on the "Our Father" bead and then 10 "For the sake of His sor-rowful Passion" (7) on the following "Hail Mary" beads. 9. Conclude with Holy God (Repeat three times) Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. 10. Optional Closing Prayer Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion — inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and in-crease Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence

submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.
