Wayne County Commissioners Brian Smith, Joe Adams and Jocelyn Cramer issued thefollowing message for Chamber of the Northern Poconos members: The Wayne County Courthouse and most other county buildings are open for business, withnoticeable changes in place with the health and safety of county employees and visitors inmind. County commissioners implemented a restricted access policy for the courthouse, theArea Agency on Aging Building and Park Street Complex to limit but not eliminate publicaccess to those buildings so essential government functions can continue while we also do ourbest to protect their staff as best as possible from COVID-19. The commissioners will continue to participate in daily calls and receive emailed updates withthe governor’s office, the state department of health, FEMA, PEMA, the CDC, federal and statelegislators and will continue to share updates regularly. We know these are trying times for all and we wish to express our heartfelt thanks to ourhealth care providers and first responders and our county employees who are still hard atwork, including those making and delivering meals to our seniors, answering the phone whenyou dial 911, providing care for human service clients, working at the correctional facility andtransporting seniors to obtain medical services and food. Our website has the latest policy changes and updates on the Coronavirus. They can bereviewed by visiting http://waynecountypa.gov/842/COVID-19-ResponseWe know the governor has mandated that non-life-sustaining businesses remain closed untilfurther notice. If you are a local business seeking to remain open, there is a waiver requestoption and you can learn more by going to https://dced.pa.gov/ That website also hasinformation and resources to aid businesses that have been closed. Please do not call 911 toreport a business that is violating this mandate. The Chamber, WEDCO, Workforce Development, NEPA Alliance, the Small BusinessAdministration and other economic development organizations are all hard at work ready toassist businesses who have been impacted by the health disaster. We applaud their effortsand urge you to reach out to them with questions, concerns or ideas. If we heed the advice of federal and state officials, we will get through this together. It may bea long, arduous journey but we in Wayne County have survived disasters before and we willsurvive this. And we will come back even stronger than before.

Or, use hand sanitizerif soap and water aren’t available.Cover your coughs or sneezes with your elbow, not your hands.Clean high-touch surfaces frequently.Wear a nonmedical or homemade mask in public settings. And, if you are sick, stay home.

Pike Together Task Force As we remain vigilant fighting the virus, we must begin to focus on Pike County’s recovery byhelping local businesses find resources to recover. We have directed Our Economic Development Authority to make the number one priorityproviding information to local businesses about federal, state and other programs available andto offer guidance in the process. Call Executive Director Mike Sullivan at 570-296-7332 or visit www.PikePA.org for moreinformation. We know first-hand that this is a strong community of friends and neighbors ready to cometogether to meet any challenge. As Commissioners, we will create a new task force called Pike Together. Its initial charge willbe to call on talented individuals from all parts of the county to focus on recovery from theCOVID-19 epidemic. We will recover in Pike Together!
