From Our PastorDear church family,

Spring is here!!! Is this not great news? Everything at this time of year yellsspring and life!! Even the month of April shares with us, “April showers bringMay flowers.” I like spring. Everything is coming alive. It’s as if the first fullmonth of spring, April, yells out to us, “Life!!!” In this month, we have Easter.Jesus is risen from the tomb. Flowers come up and share this news with us.Flowers that we thought were dead are now fully alive. I am reminded of Job12:7-10, “But now ask the beasts, and they will teach you; And the birds ofthe air, and they will tell you; Or speak to the earth, and it will teach you;And the fish of the sea will explain to you. Who among all these does notknow That the hand of the Lord has done this, In whose hand is the life ofevery living thing, And the breath of all mankind?” April is the month thatthe things God created declare life and that God is the one whose handmade the life of every living thing as the scripture tells us. So we look andlisten in this month of life. Let it remind us, too, of our Savior and Lord,Jesus, who died and was brought back to life. Let us live our life to thefullness of God’s love and proclaim like the birds and beasts of Jesus beingalive. Happy month of April. Happy life month and Happy Easter.Jesus is alive.

From Our Music Director

Lord, open my lips, and my mouth

will declare Your praise. Psalm 51:15

Music. Is it inspirational? Yes! Is it loved by all

people? Yes! Is it always used to praise God? No!

The importance of our worship time together is

obvious every time we gather and sing in praise to

Him! Let’s challenge ourselves to do as Psalm

51:15 says and allow the Lord to open our mouths

so we can declare HIS praise! Sing loud, church,

sing loud!

Add this to your calendars – On Palm Sunday,

April 14, the ULBC Choir and Praise Team will

present, “Beautiful, Victorious Savior.” This will be

the story of Easter told in song and will prepare

our hearts for the CELEBRATION of what Christ

did for us!

From Our Youth MinisterAs we were sharing in our Monday nightwomen’s group, I shared this story from theweekend.

It was time to take our dog for a walk. We havea long, slightly curvy driveway and he likes tostart out on the gravel and venture off to theleft or the right into the woods to explore. Aswe started down the drive, I looked ahead andwe both saw it at the same time. There is amud puddle (or two) in the drive and in thisparticular one, there were at least six birds justa chattering away and diving into that mudpuddle. They were the happiest birds I haveever seen! Dipping, flapping, and chirping totheir heart’s content.

I couldn’t take my eyes off them. I then noticedour dog was just as mesmerized by thisspectacle as I was; and that is a rare thing, because he would normally try to pull on hisleash to chase them. Bandit and I took greatdelight in watching those birds until they flewchirping away. It made me think. This must bejust a little taste of how much God delights inus as He watches over and cares for us.Scripture tells us, He cares for the birds, but Hecares infinitely more for us. He delights overHis creation and that is US!

I hope this is an encouragement for you as youwalk through your day. God blesses us in somany ways and it’s magnificent to see how Heuses His own creation to do so! Keep a watchout and let me know how He delights you inyour day!

For the Lord takes delight in his people;he crowns the humble with victory.

Psalm 149:4

Children and their Families

Easter CelebrationIt’s interesting how God works. In His own way,He has dealt with Preacher Marvin and Iseparately in regards to our annual EasterCelebration for the children this year. We bothfeel impressed that this is the year to keepthings simple. In Exodus 23, God tells thepeople to work and toil the land for six yearsand in the seventh year, allow the land to layfallow for regeneration.

Where we have not toiled for six years, (sinceI’ve only been here 2+!), we do feel that puttingaside the community Easter Egg Hunt for thisyear would be beneficial for us as a church.Preacher Marvin and I sincerely believe we allneed to take this time to focus on ministering toour children and families we have currently.

In Acts 1:8 it reads, “But you will receive powerwhen the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you willbe my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judeaand Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

We do have something planned! Here are thedetails. After our Palm Sunday service on April14, all children 5th grade and under, and theirfamilies, are invited to meet in the fellowshiphall for lunch of ham, sides and desserts. Weask each family to bring a side and we’ll have asign-up sheet available in the sanctuary. Theham will be provided and Preacher Marvin andI will provide the desserts.

The Easter story will be shared on a child’s leveland we’ll also enjoy an egg hunt, weatherpermitting. The children are encouraged tobring friends!

We look forward to spending time with ourfamilies and ministering to them. Not to worry,we will be doing future outreach events to thecommunity. For now, as we seek in prayer howwe can best minister to our Samaria and theends of the earth, we will be spending timetaking care of our Jerusalem!
