APRIL 2018 NEWSLETTER _____________________________________________________________________________________ PAST-PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Lauren E. Waddell It has been an amazing journey serving as the AWA President over the last year. I have enjoyed our events, luncheons, service projects, mentorship program and the continued support of women attorneys and law students in the Houston area. Thank you to my wonderful 2017-2018 AWA Board of Directors: Julia A. Cook, LaMonica Orr-Love, Shannon Boudreaux, Cecily Martinez, Judge Debra Mayfield, Cristina Solomon, Judge Kristen Hawkins, Charlotte MacVane, Allissa Pollard, and Anna Raimer. It was truly an honor and pleasure to work with each of you to accomplish the goals of the AWA through this past year! I am pleased to be handing over the reins to our new AWA President, Julia A. Cook. I look forward to her leadership this year and the wonderful accomplishments to come for the AWA! _____________________________________________________________________________________ February 7, 2018 JON KROP – MINDFULNESS FOR LAWYERS On February 7th, we had Jon Krop from New York spoke to us about meditation and how it can reduce stress and improve productivity in our lives. We actually practiced meditating in a meditation session with Jon. For some of us, this was the very first time to ever meditate. He is an expert in mediation training, and, we were so grateful that he chose to spend his time with us sharing the practice of mediation! Thank you, Jon, for coming all the way to Texas to share your expertise, we appreciate it!
