Preschool I - By Ms. Krystalynne Nelsen Our topic this month is Ecosystems! We will be exploring the environment we live in, how weather impacts our environment, the different creatures in their habitats, and what it means to BE GREEN! We will also continue working on our addition skills and number awareness, and introduce subtraction. In addition, for reading groups we will be starting BOB books and continue learning letter sounds. Hoppy Spring.

Preschool II By Ms. Kate Bugg April is shaping up to be an exciting month! Our theme is Eco Exploring, so lots of planned outdoor time. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate with us. On top of that we will continue working on our capital letters and numbers 11-20. We will be expanding our in class garden, and will be in need of plastic containers to use as planters. If you have some empty liter bottles, please bring them in.

MDO By Ms. Maria Helms Hello wonderful MDO Parents. Our little ones love the outdoors and the fresh air. Please have some extra clothes in case we get messy. The annual Easter Egg hunt will be on April 1st and 2nd . We are planning a Field Trip for April 16 and 17 to the wild life Park Potzberg. Please have some weather appropriate clothes for your child. We will continue learning about social skills and using nice words such as please and thank you. Our theme for this month is In the Grass. We will learn all about grass, the different types of grass, how to care for the grass and what we can find in the grass. Also grass provides food. Some animals and insects eat grass and people also eat some special types of grass. Then we will learn Grass can become homes and provide shelter for many animals and insects. People use grass in many ways too; Building and creating , Landscaping and Recreation.

Transition II By Ms. Raquel Moody Our Topic in April is In the Grass grass is fun to play. Well go underground and investigate the critters that live under it. We will also discuss how they use grass for food and shelter. We will also look at how grass is very important to people as its helps us grow food and other plants. We will continue to work on sorting color, shape, and number from past month. We will also practice scissor cutting and tracing . A big outdoor adventure is awaiting us as we discover what to do and what can be found in the grass.

Transition I By Ms. Jenny Sixto For For April Trans 1 will be exploring all about Grass. It's going to be a busy month! We will learn about the different things that grow in grass such as flowers to how animals use grass for shelter and some to even eat! Trans will be learning about the letters S T U, the hexagon and octagon shape, color blue and the numbers 15 and 16. The class will be doing a school Easter egg hunt on the 2nd and our field trip on the 16th. Ms. Jenny's last day will be the 17th and then Ms. Lindsey will be taking over as lead! Pre-Kindergarten I - By Ms. Misti Leonard April Showers bring May flowers. This is definitely true this week, with all the rain we are getting. Our theme this month is Eco-Exploring. I plan to spend as much time as possible outside exploring the Earth and everything that lives on it. April also has Earth day, so we will talk a lot about keeping the Earth clean and recycling (which is easy here in Germany). We have two birthdays this month, so that will be a reason to have cupcakes. I would like to purchase live caterpillars for the classroom. It is amazing for the children to see the whole life cycle of a caterpillar, chrysalis, and emerge as a beautiful butterfly. If parents would like to donate a few Euros towards the caterpillar fund, that would be much appreciated. The little critters are expensive, since they come from the UK. We will also be working on time, money and of course reading, oh yeah and math We have also introduced student of the week and that seems to be a big hit with the kiddos. I am happy with the progress they are making both academically and socially. We hope to have a great month.

Pre-Kindergarten II - By Ms. Gabrielle Cassidy Hi everyone! It is finally Spring and Easter is upon us. We have a new curriculum called Eco Exploring so we will be looking at habitats, weather and recycling. In Literacy and Language we are concentrating on practicing our writing and using lower case letters correctly. In Math we are concentrating on counting up to 50 reliably and will start work on money and time recognition also. Reading groups will start this month and I will begin to send books home with the children and flashcards to learn frequently used words. Please check out our weekly class newsletter for updates and Miss Sarah and I hope you have a wonderful Easter.

    Advisory Council

    Dear families and staff,

Spring is in the air! We would like to announce that we have a new Director! Ms. Sabrina Freeman has officially started the beginning of March. We are excited to work with her as she has already come with numerous ideas to help promote CLA. If you have a minute please stop by and introduce yourselves. This month we will be returning to the great outdoors to get some fresh air now that our temperatures are creeping back up. Stuff is still a little muddy, so please be sure we have jackets and spare clothing in case of messes outside! March is looking to be not so hectic in all of our classes, so enjoy the calm before the crazy storm April is shaping up to be. In April we have spring break, return registration, summer camp registration, and progress reports! Lots of fun things, and well be sure to get out exact dates and details of everything as the time grows closer. The board has three open positions that we would like to fill (2nd Vice President, Treasurer, and Volunteer Coordinator). Please see one of us for more information or email us at [email protected] I hope you all have had a most fantastic February, and I look forward to another fun and exciting month here at CLA. Your Advisory Council Board Sue Elkins, President Desiree Rosch, 1st Vice President Eryn Eline, Secretary
