Volume 2, No. 9 April 2014 STEM MEETING A STEM meeting for principals of both Cohorts I and II will be held on April 1 st from 10:00 am to Noon in the Terrace Room at the Diocesan Center. NEW PRINCIPAL PROGRAM On Wednesday, April 9, 2014, new principals will meet for the fourth quarterly inservice program. The meeting, which will start at 9:00am and conclude by 11:30am, will be held at the Diocesan Pastoral Center in Clifton. FACULTY ADVISORY COMMITTEE The Faculty Advisory Committee for Elementary and Secondary Schools will meet on April 9, 2014, from 2:00 to 3:00pm at the John-Paul II Center in Clifton. REGION 1 MEETING There will be a Region 1 Principals Meeting on Monday, April 7 th , at Holy Spirit School, Pequannock, from 12:30–3:30 PM. Lunch will be provided. Topic will be the unit template and its use. Principals are asked to bring 1-2 teachers with them that have attended ACE meeting. STEM WORKSHOP Stevens Institute of Technology will provide a STEM workshop for grades 3-5 from 9:00am to 2:30pm on Thursday, April 10 th , at the John Paul II Center in Clifton. The day will begin in the cafeteria with breakfast at 8:30am, and lunch will be provided. RSVP by April 7th to [email protected] PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Members of the Professional Development Committee will meet at DePaul Catholic High School on Thursday, April 10 th , from 9:30AM to 3:30pm, and on Wednesday, April 30 th , from 12:00 Noon to 3:30pm. SECONDARY SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS There will be a joint luncheon meeting for secondary school presidents and principals on April 10, 2014, at DePaul Catholic High School, from 11:30am to 1:30pm. Submit agenda items to Br. William [email protected] by April 4 th . TEACHER EVALUATION COMMITTEE The Teacher Evaluation Committee will meet on April 29 th , at 7:30am, in the Molloy Center of St. Philip School in Clifton. This will be a working session on developing the draft for the teacher evaluation. RSVP by April 27 th , to [email protected] . REGION 4 MEETING Region 4 will hold its meeting on Wednesday, April 30 th , from 1:30–3:00 PM at St. Cecilia School, Rockaway. AMENDED CALENDAR A reminder that the amended calendar is due by April 30 th . The form to be used by schools to submit an amended calendar can be accessed here . Note that an amended calendar must be submitted by each school whether or not the school missed days. If no days were missed, simply indicate that on the amended calendar form.

  • 2014-2015 CALENDARS Principals are reminded that the 2014-2015 school calendars are to be submitted to the Catholic Schools Office by May 16, 2014, at the latest. The directions and form for completing and submitting the schools 2014-2015 calendar for approval can be found here. Principals can also access the form by going to the Principal's Library on patdioschools.org (in the Administrator's section). When the form is finished, save it and email it as an attachment to [email protected], or fax to 973-779-0083 or send via surface mail. PICTURES OF SCHOOLS The Catholic Schools Office is requesting a picture of each school in the diocese. These pictures will be used to enhance the Catholic Schools Office new website and will be posted online. Please submit a photo that best represents your school. Pictures should be current and show-off the school in a positive manner. Photos can be forwarded to Edward Card at [email protected]. ACE WORKSHOPS IN JUNE Each school is to dedicate two full days of year-end meetings for teachers to develop unit plans according to the ACE differentiated unit structure. Since we will ask teachers from schools who have used the template to provide assistance where needed, we will need to know each schools dates by April 11th. Send them to [email protected]. Note that these two full days in each school will replace the ACE Curriculum Workshop scheduled for June 23rd through June 26th. PERMISSION FORM The form entitled, CATHOLIC SCHOOLS OF THE PATERSON DIOCESE PERMISSION TO PUBLISH STUDENTS PHOTOGRAPH OR WORK has been modified. The revised form closely resembles the previous one and can be found in the principals library on patdioschools.org or by clicking here. This form should be implemented in the 2014-2015 school year.

    MAY PRINCIPALS MEETING There will be a meeting for all principals and presidents on May 6, 2014, at the Pope John Paul II Center in Clifton. From 9am to Noon, elementary principals will meet about Standards Based Grading. At noon lunch will be served. At 1:00pm, all elementary principals as well as secondary principals and presidents will meet. The program will focus on plans for the 2014-2015 school year. The meeting will conclude by 3:00pm at the latest. High school presidents and principals are welcome to come for lunch at noon. AdvancED REPORT The AdvancED Progress Report has been completed and submitted. Click on this link to read the Report in its entirety. INSTANT ALERT PROVIDER The Catholic Schools Office is investigating a new instant alert solution. The frontrunner is Alert Solutions, the only completely embedded communication suite within Pearsons PowerSchool student information system and a cutting-edge approach to school communication which allows for instant alerts and the emailing of forms and report cards from within PowerSchool. ACTION ALERT The NJ Catholic Conference asks all to voice their concern to the Governor and to their legislators that legislation (A-373) was passed assuring that every public school would be equipped with additional safety precautions (emergency lights and panic alarm systems linked to local law enforcement), but no such legislation will be provided for non-public schools.
