OPENING PRAYER

SPECIAL MUSIC “Let All the World In Every Corner Sing” Martin

Chancel Choir CALL TO CONFESSION PRAYER OF CONFESSION Forgive us for the times last week when we walked on by; turned up the

volume; left you to get on with what was ours to do. We are sorry for the things that we knew were wrong, but went ahead and did or those things we left undone. God, if anyone can cope with us you can. We know that you accept us even with our faults, carrying all that weights us down – you won’t look the other way. We pray, Lord that you will set us free from the burden of sin. Forgive us. And show us, here and now, the people you know we can be. Glory to you, through all you shape and love. Peace to every creature. Amen. (Silence for personal confession)

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH THE APOSTLES’ CREED (Traditional) I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Dear Faithful Friends in Christ, I could never express in words the gratitude I have for the outpouring of love and kindness you have shown to my girls and me in the past two weeks. It has been a heartbreaking time for our family as we grieve Kevin, but we are buttressed up with the support of faithful friends like all of you. You are truly a church which witnesses to what it means to live the love of Jesus Christ. I am forever thankful for your compassion, understanding, prayers, and most of all, your love. Faithfully in Him, Anne Schaefer Interim Pastor

Local Mission

FPCP is working more closely with our Presbytery and its program for the 13,000 children in foster in Michigan. Our prayer ministry can help by praying for a special child each month. This month we are praying for 11 year old Alexandra. Allie wants to

become a veterinarian when she gets older so she can take care of horses. She wakes up every

morning with a smile and is very outgoing and talkative. She is easy to hold a conversation with. She

also enjoys being active by playing volleyball and riding bikes with her friends. After school, Allie

enjoys reading, drawing, playing with the Wii and with her American Girl Doll. When she’s asked

about the qualities she wants in a future forever family, Allie has just a couple of desires. “Allie

would like to go on vacations and ride horses with her forever family, continue to go to church and

be involved in (her youth ministry).” More info can be found at Mare.org. If you are interested in helping with our foster care projects, please call Peggy at 734.953.1044.

Our Thrift Shop is thriving!! THAT'S NOT AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE!!

Now we need more items to sell and we hope we can count on YOU to go through your homes to find unused and unneeded donations for us to offer at the shop. AND MARK YOUR CALENDARS:

On April 29, there will be a BIG OLD VILLAGE SIDEWALK SALE. We would like to have some spring and summer furniture, as well as collectables to offer for sale that day.

AND our second annual TOOL SALE will be held on May 20, so please bring us tools to sell, and be sure to shop that day too. Remember that all donations are tax deductible and all of the profits are for mission work! Thanks so much, Linda Luke, Ted and Lynne Porter

Our Local Mission Committee is assembling CARE PACKAGES for Foster Care students at Wayne State to encourage them at final Exam time. These students have aged out of foster care and receive no family support. Our small acts of love show them we care and encourage them to do their best on their final exams. We are collecting for 27 students.

Can you donate any of the following?

Personal hygiene products (hand lotion, deodorant, toothpaste, dental floss, mouthwash, shampoo, shaving items for men and personal hygiene for women.)

Nonperishable nutritious breakfast snack foods (granola bars, small cereals, pop tarts, peanut butter)

Healthy snacks that college kids enjoy

Laundry and dishwashing detergent

Towels Donated items should be placed in the collection bin in the church lower level through Sunday, April 23.

FPCP Self Study

When a pastor leaves, every congregation goes through a transition period. A Self Study is one tool that assists the congregation to navigate this transition and a requirement that precedes the Pastoral Search process. It is a process that prepares the way for the next chapter in the life of our church family that identifies who we are, who our neighbors are, and what God is calling us to become. In accordance with rules of our denomination and approval of Session, a Self Study committee has been formed and has had its organizational meeting last Wednesday. This process is ex-pected to last approximately four months and is facilitated by the Presbytery of Detroit Committee on Ministry, Debbie Lennis, with assistance by Rev. Schaefer. Members of the committee who have accepted its call are the following: Charles Evans, Curt Rager, Darlene Maginley, Bev Girard, Johanna Kissel, Nancy Sullivan, Richard (Rick) Williams, Sandy Dodge, and Tom Brady (Chairperson). It is a privilege and joy to work together on this study and serve our church family in this manner. Your prayers and support are invited and welcome.

FPCP Partners in Earth Care – Let’s Recycle

You may notice additional small blue recycle bins throughout the church – in the Narthex, Upper Room, Dining Room, upstairs kitchen and the Calvin Room. It’s simple to distinguish between what goes in the garbage and what can be recycled within our church. In the garbage can, you can place napkins and plates. In the blue recycling bins, you can place juice cups, coffee cups (both without liquid), water bottles, church bulletins, paper and cardboard. These items will be placed in the two larger recycling bins that are placed outside each Tuesday morning for city recycling. Please help do your part by taking a second to determine which bin the item you are disposing of goes in. Church volunteers will

empty the blue bins each Sunday after services.

Prayer labyrinth is another way to pray and meditate on God.

A labyrinth assists Christians in meditation and prayer. In the Middle Ages, the labyrinths were used as a way for people to participate in a pilgrimage without the expense or time required in actually going to another place. Labyrinths were created on the floors of cathedrals to help draw people into meditation. During Holy Week, you will have the opportunity to experience this ancient tradition using the prayer Jesus Christ taught us to pray, “The Lord’s Prayer.” Come join us in Fellowship Hall beginning Sunday, April 9 (8:00 am – 9:00 pm) through Saturday, April 15 until 1:00 pm. As you walk the labyrinth, we hope you will be mindful of following Jesus in your life and in the world.

"Battery Recycling"

Unfortunately our source for recycling batteries is no longer accepting them. We WILL NOT be collecting batteries on Sunday, April 2nd. We will be working with local municipalities and their annual hazardous waste days to collect batteries. Our next collection date will be Sunday, April 9th. Look for the collection bin in the Narthex. There is also no longer a collection box in the basement due to safety reasons. Please watch your bulletin for upcoming dates for battery collection as they become available.
