From the Desk of Father John...

Vocation Awareness

This Sunday is World Day of

Prayer for Vocations. On this

day, the Church encourages us to

pray for an increase of vocations

to consecrated religious life and

to the priesthood. This is a prayer

we are particularly encouraged to

pray today:

Gracious and Loving God,

help the men and women of our

parish to hear the call to serve in

the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Open the hearts of many, raise

up faithful servants of the

Gospel, dedicated, holy priests,

sisters, brothers, and deacons,

who will spend themselves for

your people and their needs.

Bless those who are serving

now with courage and

perseverance. Grant that many

will be inspired by their example

and faith.

We ask this through Christ our

Lord. Amen.

This call to prayer will hopefully

lead to a softening of our hearts

to encouraging vocations,

especially from among our own

family and friends. This prayerful

encouragement of young people

to consider a vocation is

indispensable in their

discernment and choice to

actively pursue such a vocation.

Annual Catholic Appeal

A friendly reminder to all to stop

by the tent outside of church to

pledge and sign your ACA card.

Your pledge will help to fund

essential projects in our parish

and beyond. Also, stopping by

today will put you in a drawing

for a free dinner at our

upcoming Spring Dinner. After

today, parish volunteers will

begin following up with

parishioners who have not

signed their pledge cards via

phone calls. Please be courteous

to these volunteers when they

reach out to you.

Life in the Spirit Seminar

All those attending the Life in

the Spirit Seminar: please

remember that we will be

meeting Sunday night at

6:00pm in the Activity Center.

Next week with the Spring

Dinner, we will be meeting in

the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Spring Dinner

On Sunday, April 24, we will

be having our annual spring

dinner. Please invite your

family and friends to this

special celebration in the life of

our parish.

We also deeply appreciate the

gift of your time and energy

that weekend to help put the

dinner on. Please see the notes

in the bulletin and flier today

for details. If you have not

signed up yet and see an open

slot you would like to volunteer

for, please contact the parish

office.

School Rummage Sale

The week of April 19-23 is the

school rummage sale at the

Knights of Columbus Hall.

Please drop off your items to be

sold and stop by to pick up

some new treasures!

Trivia Night

April 30th will see our PTO

putting on a trivia night to

benefit their activities for our

school. Tables of 8-10 are

available at $10 a person. See

you there!

May Crowning

Save the afternoon of Sunday,

May 1, for our parish praying

the rosary and crowning the

statue of Mary in front of the

activity center. More details to

come soon!

Adult Confirmation on

Pentecost Sunday

Adult Catholics who have not

yet received the Sacrament of

Confirmation are invited to join

Archbishop Robert J. Carlson at

the annual Mass for the

Confirmation of Adults, May

15, 2016 (Pentecost Sunday) at

2:30 p.m. at the Cathedral

Basilica of St. Louis, 4431

Lindell Boulevard in St. Louis.

Please contact me for

information on how to prepare

to complete your sacramental

initiation into the Catholic

Church and to receive the gifts

of the Holy Spirit.

Semi-Annual Report to

Parishioners

Please find in the bulletin today

our semi-annual report to you

on the financial state of the

parish. Any questions or

concerns can be addressed to

the finance committee, or me.

“The disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.” ACTS 13:52

Because the disciples heard Our Lord’s call, they were able to spread the Gospel message

with strength and vitality. We, too, can experience that same joy if we take time to open our hearts, listen to God, ask for His direction and allow the Holy Spirit to guide our lives and our decisions.
