New Organizational Structure -- Expectations of Board Members
● Board Member candidates need to be willing to learn about applicable laws and non profit best practices and develop new processes and systems.
● Serve on at least two Board committees (may serve one additional role in Operations)
○ Policy Committee: Review and develop governing documents per applicable laws and best practices ○ Development Committee: Develop Key Performance Indicators, research best practices and
implement recruitment strategy○ Finance Committee: Develop and report financial statements, implement fundraising and sponsorship
strategies
● About half of the all Board Members will need to hold a leadership position○ President, Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair, Secretary, Policy Committee Chair, Development

● Terms for 2020 elections will be 1 or 2 years

Regional Coordinators
● Appointed as an Operations role to serve each region
● Works to facilitate regional championship bid process
● Provides support for regional championship hosts
● Ensures accurate club contact information and calendar of regional events
New Organizational Structure -- Regions Team
● Responsibilities○ Represent the clubs in the region to the Board and make sure their interests and concerns are being addressed.
■ The Regional Representatives will elect a spokesperson will attend the annual In-Person Board meeting and facilitate discussion about membership concerns and priorities
■ The Board will consult Regional Representatives for board decisions which are relevant to membership interests and concerns
○ Represent the Board to member clubs by understanding and explaining relevant policies and decisions of the Board
○ Act as the first point of contact for all clubs in the region, and direct questions to the appropriate resources within the NAIGC.
■ Work with the Regional Coordinator to facilitate communication between the NAIGC and member clubs. ○ Work with the Growth and Outreach Team to:
■ Table and/or distribute materials at industry events (congress, meets, clinics) to promote the NAIGC■ Reach out to existing clubs at universities that are unaware of or not members of the NAIGC■ Create new college and community clubs in each region
○ Regions Team Lead■ Could be one of the regional coordinators or an additional person to take on leadership and
administrative duties○ Positions
■ Every region will be have a Regional Coordinator (1-7)■ There will be 1 Regional Rep for every region (7)■ 1 Region Team Lead■ 1 Spokesperson (can be any one of the Regional Coordinators, Regional Representatives, or Region Team
Lead)
Regional roles are now split into two positions:
Regional Representatives
● One Representative for each region is elected by the clubs in the region
● Represents clubs interests and concerns to the Board
● First point of contact between clubs and the NAIGC
● Assists with NAIGC growth and outreach within their region

Interested in Governance?
Run for a Board Member position
● Add yourself to the ballot by filling out the application
● To nominate someone for the Board, email their nomination and endorsement to the NAIGC Discussion Listserv (remember, only members of the group may email)
● Nominations and applications are open from April 16th - May 1st
● More information can be found on the Election 2020 page of naigc.org

Interested in Operations?
Apply for an Operations Role
● Once the new Board is elected, they will appoint an Executive Director to lead and build the Operations Leadership Team
● The Operations Leadership Team will post available roles and an application on the NAIGC website for Operations specialists

Board Member and Regional Representative Elections
● For the upcoming Board Member election, there are 11 open board positions.● The 11 highest scoring candidates will become Board Members.
○ 3 two-year terms (among winning candidates, the top 3 scoring candidates who ran for a 2-year term will be awarded a 2-year term)
○ 8 one-year terms (awarded to the remaining eight winning candidates)
● Election Timeline:○ April 16 - 9 p.m. EST – Nominations open after the virtual Annual Meeting○ May 1 - Nominations and applications close○ May 4 - Elections open after Board Member virtual candidate speeches and Q&A○ May 12 - Elections close
● Regional Representatives will also be elected according to this timeline. To apply for a Regional Representative position fill out the application. More details can be found on the “Regions Team” slide of this presentation and in the Regional Representative Policy.

Future Board Elections -- Nomination Committee
● Goals:
○ Simplify the election process for the membership
○ Align candidates to existing skill gaps on the Board
● The Nomination Committee will be a temporary committee of 6-10 people formed before each Board election
○ NAIGC students, coaches, current Board members not running in the election, and other community
stakeholders
○ Current Board Members (if any) must be a minority (less than half) of the Committee
○ Seated by the Board, anyone may apply
● The Nomination Committee will vet - through a series of meetings and interviews - potential candidates for the
NAIGC Board
● Only approved candidates will appear on the ballot
● NAIGC member clubs elect Board Members as they currently do, voting on candidates approved by the Nomination
Committee
A Nomination Committee will NOT be used for this year’s Board Member elections.
It will be implemented for the first time for the 2021-2022 election cycle.
