“This man God raised on the third day and granted that he be visible, not to all the people but to us, the witnesses chosen by God in advance, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. He commissioned us to preach to the people, and

testify that he is the one appointed by God to judge the living and the dead. To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him will receive forgiveness of sins though his name.” The resurrection accounts of Jesus’ appearances, following the empty tomb scene, are familiar and the source of hope and joy. The words of Peter in the sermon from the Acts of the Apostles, brings the meaning of His resurrection to us in 2017. Jesus’ redeeming sacrifice earns forgiveness and new life for us today. Remember, this is the same Peter who shortly before denied knowing the Lord because of fear and intimidation. This sermon of Peter, and others he spoke, as did Paul, summon us to let Easter speak to us today. The Risen Lord offers us the gift of new life, won at Calvary, and generously given if we sincerely turn to Him. May we let the grace of this day bring the richness of God’s grace to us all. “Pero Dios lo resucitó al tercer día y le concedió que se manifestara, no a todo el pueblo, sino a testigos elegidos de antemano por Dios: a nosotros, que comimos y bebimos con él, después de su resurrección. Y nos envió a predicar al pueblo, y atestiguar que él fue constituido por Dios Juez de vivos y muertos. Todos los profetas dan testimonio de él, declarando que los que creen en él reciben el perdón de los pecados, en virtud de su Nombre.” La descripción de las apariciones de Jesús luego de la resurrección y la escena de la tumba nos son familiares y una fuente de esperanza y alegría. Las palabras de San Pedro en el sermón de los Hechos de los Apóstoles nos traen el significado de Su resurrección en 2017. El sacrificio redentor de Jesús nos ha ganado el perdón y una nueva vida hoy. Recuerde, este es el mismo Pedro que hace poco negó a Jesús por miedo e intimidación. Los sermones de Pedro, al igual que los de Pablo, nos llaman a dejar que la Pascua nos hable ahora. El Señor resucitado nos ofrece el don de una nueva vida, ganada en el Calvario y generosamente dada si sinceramente nos volcamos a El. Que la gracia de este día traiga la riqueza de la gracia de Dios a todos nosotros.

Scrittura”. Eppure era proprio così: non meravigliamoci allora di constatare l’ignoranza attuale, per molti versi simile. Il mondo di Dio, i progetti di Dio sono così diversi che ancor oggi succede che anche chi è più vicino a Dio non capisca e si stupisca degli avvenimenti. “Vide e credette”. Bastava un sepolcro vuoto perché tutto si risolvesse? Credo che non fu così facile. Anche nel momento delle sofferenze più dure, Giovanni rimane vicino al suo maestro. La ragione non comprende, ma l’amore aiuta il cuore ad aprirsi e a vedere. È l’intuizione dell’amore che permette a Giovanni di vedere e di credere prima di tutti gli altri. La gioia di Pasqua matura solo sul terreno di un amore fedele. Un’amicizia che niente e nessuno potrebbe spezzare. È possibile? Io credo che la vita ci abbia insegnato che soltanto Dio può procurarci ciò. È la testimonianza che ci danno tutti i gulag dell’Europa dell’Est e che riecheggia nella gioia pasquale alla fine del nostro millennio.
