Sister Gabriel has announced her retirement after 51 years in our school, 43 years as our principal. We will mark this event, and celebrate Sister’s contribution to our school and parish, at a special Mass to be celebrated on Trinity Sunday, June 11th at 3:00pm. A festive reception will follow. Those interested in serving on the committee for this event are kindly asked to leave word for Father Quarato at the Rectory Office.

Noonday Adoration Noonday Adoration will resume this Tuesday, April 18th.

Last Monday of the Month Parish Council

Janet Angelillo reminds all council members to mark Mon-day, April 24th on their calendars. If you can’t be present, please contact the rectory. We meet in the Holland Room at 7:30 PM. Parishioners are welcome to attend.

The clergy and the thousands of people who are Seton par-ish extend the steady hand of Easter hospitality to all of our parishioners and those relatives and friends who celebrated the Feast of Feasts with us today. We hope you found a gen-uine sense of love among us. Happy Easter!

“DIVINE MERCY” SUNDAY April 23rd, from 2:30-3:30pm

Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction. Divine Mercy Chaplet and Litany. Confession will be available.

Due to the central importance of Easter to the Christian faith, the Catholic Church requires that all Catholics who have made their First Communion receive the Holy Eucha-rist sometime during the Easter season, which lasts through Pentecost Sunday, 50 days after Easter. (They should also take part in the Sacrament of Penance before receiving this Easter Communion.) This reception of the Eucharist is a visible sign of our faith and our participation in the Kingdom of God. Of course, we should receive Com-munion as frequently as possible (as long as we are in the state of grace); this "Easter Duty" is simply the minimum requirement set by the Church.

The rectory is closed tomorrow to give our clergy, employ-ees and volunteers a chance to be with their families. and Noonday Adoration is CANCELLED.

NEW Easter Mass Remembrance Because so many have requested loved ones to be remem-bered at our Easter Sunday Masses, we are introducing an EASTER MASS REMEMBRANCE. Envelopes are available at the doors of the church. Please include the names (feel free to add additional names on the back) of loved ones living or de-ceased. Drop the envelopes in the collection basket or at the Rectory Office. These envelopes will be placed on the Altar, and remain there for the Octave of Easter. All the Parish Masses of Easter Sunday (in both the church and auditorium) will be offered for those enrolled (with the exception of Easter Vigil which is traditionally Pro Populo, i.e. offered for all Seton Parish-ioners). What a wonderful Easter Gift, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass!

As in past years, parishioners are invited to make donations for our Church Greens, Plants and Flowers which will honor our Lord, Mary and the Saints and decorate our church during the Easter season. Envelopes are available at the doors of the church. Please include the names (feel free to add other names on the back) of deceased loved ones. Drop the envelopes in the collection basket or at the Rectory Office. These envelopes will be placed by the Tabernacle (close to the Heart of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament) through Pentecost.

No Cardinal’s Appeal this Year Our parish will not be conducting the 2017 Cardinal’s Annu-al Stewardship Appeal. We are in the very early stages of a capital campaign that will seek to raise funds for some very exciting and much-needed parish-wide initiatives. Every pa-rishioner will be asked to play a part in the campaign. You will be hearing much more about our plans in the weeks and month ahead. In the meantime, we ask that you pray for the success of this important undertaking. Together we will re-new and rebuild Seton!

Speak to us about Getting Married in Church

If you were married in a civil ceremony, we invite you to con-sider making vows in church. The priests and deacon are willing to work with you. We invite all couples to visit FORMED.ORG and watch BELOVED – from the producers of the renowned SYMBOLON series – which explores the spiritual and eternal reality behind "I Do." Beautifully filmed and featuring acclaimed marriage experts, BELOVED SPEAKS TO THE VERY HEART OF EVERY HUSBAND AND WIFE, BRINGING SACRA-MENTAL TRUTH AND GOD-INFUSED LOVE INTO THE EVERYDAY CHALLENGES OF MARRIED LIFE. Beloved: Mystery & Meaning of Marriage includes six inspiring and informative videos you can view as a couple at home. To sign onto FORMED, check this bulletin for information about this FREE CATHOLIC WEB SER-VICE.

ANNULMENTS Last Spring, His Holiness, Pope Francis overhauled the pro-cess of obtaining the Church Declaration of the Nullity of a Marriage that took place in a Catholic Church: -there is no fee for the process: -the NY Archdiocese can now handle the procedure, no matter where in the world the Marriage took place; -the process is reduced to one step rather than a second review that was formerly required; -the application form to begin the process may be downloaded from the in-ternet! If you were married in the Catholic Church and, re-grettably, the Marriage has broken up, you are invited to speak with one of our priests or the deacon.

Please remember in your prayers those who are to be joined in the Sacrament of Marriage in the next few weeks:

A Note about Becoming Sponsors For Baptism and Confirmation

It is a great honor to be asked to be a sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation. The role of a “godparent” is to be an “other parent” in matters of our holy Faith. That is why sponsors must be practicing Catholics, 16 years of age or older (14 years old in the Archdiocese of New York), having received Catholic Confirmation and currently living a good Christian moral life. If the sponsor is married, that person must be in a valid Catholic Church marriage. One sponsor is required for Confirmation. It is customary to have two for Baptism, in which case one must be male and the other female. Parents may not be sponsors. A baptized non-Catholic may replace the second Baptism sponsor as a Christian witness. Non-Christians may not be Sponsors. Former Catholics may not be sponsors. A nominated sponsor is asked to get certification from his/her current parish. This is a declaration by a priest/deacon that the individual is qualified to be a sponsor according to Church Law. To be so certified, the individual must be a current parishioner of the particular parish where the certification is being sought, and be known to the priest/deacon as being a faithful practicing Cath-olic, attending Mass there weekly. Those away at college or graduate school or in the military should seek certification from their campus ministries or chaplains. Unfortunately, at times, family members or friends are cho-sen to be sponsors with good intentions, but are found to be ineligible according to Church Law. Also, more and more, people seem to think that they are still “parishioners” of their childhood parish, where they attended school or re-ceived sacraments years ago, while no longer living in the area or attending Mass there regularly. It is important for all individuals to be active members of their local Catholic faith communities. Here, at Seton, Certificates of Sponsorship are given by the pastor to registered members of the parish who are practicing Catholics, and who meet the above criteria. Please see the pastor after Mass on Saturday evening or Sunday to inquire about getting a certificate.

Seton’s Men’s Ministry All men are welcome to join us any Saturday morning in Our Lady’s Memorial Chapel from 7:00 to 8:30AM. We gather each week, before most family time activities start, over coffee and bagels for fellowship, prayer, and to discuss that Sunday’s Gos-pel reading. We offer mutual support and discuss the challenges of being faithful Catholic men, husbands, fathers, co-workers and members of the community. Contact Fr. Quarato for more information.

The Sunday after Easter is Divine Mercy Sunday! How should we prepare for this great Feast of Mercy?

Jesus told St. Faustina that this Feast of Mercy would be a very special day when “all the divine floodgates through which graces flow areopened” (Diary 699) Our Lord made a great promise to all those souls whowould go to Confession and then receive Him in Holy Communion on the Feast of Mercy, the Sunday after Easter, which is now called Divine Mercy Sunday throughout the Catholic Church.

Jesus promised that “The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain the complete forgiveness of sins and punishment.”(Diary 699) He went on to say “I want to grant a complete pardon to the souls that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion on the Feast of My Mercy.” (Diary 1109)

We want to encourage everyone to take advantage of this incredible promise and the additional Plenary Indulgence on this great Feast of Mercy “Divine Mercy Sunday” We want you to benefit fully from these promises, and we also want you to notify all of your family and friends about them too andurge them to return to the practice of their faith!

The Image of The Divine Mercy, which Our Lord requested to be solemnly blessed and venerated on this day, will be on display in our church. Pope John Paul II said that the image portrays the Risen Jesus Christ bringing Mercy to the whole world. Our Lord said “I want the image to be solemnly blessed on the first Sunday afterEaster, and I want it to be venerated publicly so that every soul may know about it. I promise that thesoul that will venerate this image will not perish” (Diary 341, 48) Please take the time to visit with this Image of The Divine Mercy and venerate Jesus.

Jesus said to St. Faustina “I am offering people a vessel with which they are to keep coming for graces to the fountain of mercy. That vessel is this image with the signature: Jesus, I trust in You” (Diary 327)“The two rays denote Blood and Water. The pale ray stands for the Water which makes souls righteous. The red ray stands for the Blood which is the life of souls. These two rays issued forth from the very depths !"#$$%

About the feastday “Divine Mercy Sunday” Jesus said “…tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon the souls who approach the Fount of My Mercy. On that day all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are &'(')*!"+$$%

Our Lord said “When you go to confession, to this fountain of My mercy, the Blood and Water which came forth from My Heart always flows down upon your soul…” and “Every time you go to confession, immerse yourself entirely in My mercy with great trust so that I may pour the bounty of My grace upon your soul. When you approach the confessional know this, that I Myself am waiting there for you. I am only hidden by the priest, but I Myself act in your soul. Here the misery of the soul meets the God of mercy” (1602) Make your confession before Me. The person of the priest is… only a screen. Never analyze what sort of a priest that I am making use of; open your soul in confession to Me, and I will fill it with My light.” (1725)

It is required of all Catholics to confess their serious sins at least once every year. If you haven’t yet met this obligation then take advantage of this outstanding opportunity to receive an outpouring of an ocean of graces that Jesus promises on this day. Those who have already confessed their sins should make room for others.

The Church allows for one to go to Confession for up to about 20 days, before or after Divine Mercy Sunday.
