Approved Translators Approved Translators for Document Translation: • Minister of religion authorized under provincial law to perform marriages. • Manager/signing officer of a bank, trust company or credit union. • Judge, magistrate. • Police officer (municipal, provincial or RCMP). • Senior administrator or teacher in a university. • Person occupying a senior administrative position in a community college (includes CEGEP). • A teacher or principal of a secondary or primary school. • Professional accountant (member of CA, CMA, CGA, APA). • Professional engineer (P. Eng., Eng. in Quebec). • Mayor. • Lawyer (member of a provincial bar association). • Notary Public. • Medical doctor, dentist, or chiropractor. • Postmaster. • Veterinarian. • Translators from: Alberta Chapter of Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (ACRID). Approved Translators for Knowledge Tests: Individuals looking to receive approval to become an approved translator for knowledge tests must be referred to Alberta Transportation, Driver Programs and Licensing Standards (DPLS) at: • Website link www.transportation.alberta.ca/531.htm. or • Contact DPLS by telephone at (780) 427-8901. or • Registry agents may provide the blank application form.
