THE FIRST TEE OF THE COACHELLA VALLEY YEAR IN REVIEW 2015/2016

TFT – CV 2015 – 2016 PERIOD OF TRANSITION

Key staff members either new or new in position New facilities with inherent ramp up needs Staff training, orientation and on the job experience Establish culture of involvement and collaboration Acquire institutional knowledge and expertise Develop, define strategic game plan and execute

TFT-CV BOARD RE-INVENTION

To maximize Board engagement and effectiveness, fundamental re-thinking of the Board’s mission needed to occur. This has and will continue to evolve with new and energized Members.

Prior state included no Board officers, no committee structure or duties, minimal Board meeting attendance and involvement, TFT National certification compliance questioned. Corrective action was required.

To this end, TFT-CV has elected Board President Mike Wales. The Board has eliminated the word Advisory from it’s name to enhance sense of participation and impact.

Number of Board members has increased to 12 engaged members with meeting attendance significantly increased.

Board committees has been established including: Strategic Planning/Board Development, Marketing, Fundraising/Special Events, Programming/Volunteers.

Re-positioning of Board meetings allowing more pre and in season meetings, i.e. September, November, January, March, May.

Utilize National TFT resources, staff and best practices to increase our performance.

THE FIRST TEE NATIONAL ACTIVITIES

Conducted Chapter Retreat with TFT National staff participation. TFT-CV Board Member (Tay Fried) and Executive Director attended

the biennial TFT Network meetings. Selected as a pilot site for the new TFT National Programming

Assessment program geared to improve chapter performance. Re-engaged with TFT National Fundraising and Philanthropy staff

focused on Trustee and larger Donor recruitment. TFT-CV Board President Mike Wales and Executive Director attend TFT

training concentrated on Board governance, fundraising and Volunteer involvement.

Chosen as TFT National Fall Coaches Training site in September.

Practice tee re-graded to be laser leveled 11 straight weeks of Summer Q School 5 sessions of NEW Advanced Q School for PAR participants and

above New PLAYer class on Saturdays small decrease in participant #’s Total participation: 193 students (2015) vs. 181 students (2014) Net revenue: $3,855.00 (2015) vs. 2,290.00 (2014)

Biggest Fall registration ever with 346 participants(326 last Fall) Won Chapter Challenge against TFT Pasadena, TFT OC, TFT LA Halloween Spooktaular was a Great success Family Night with golf, movie on range and BBQ New site at The Academy at Palm Desert Presbyterian Church

Ran classes this Fall and Spring Hired Eric Solander to teach 3-4 days a week 13 NEW DRIVE programs in the DRD ASES program 26 participants tried out for 16 spots on our golf team 2 hole in ones at a fundraiser at Tahquitz Creek Secured 4 clinics with The Braille Institute Madison Rincon awarded Marcy Hyman The Palms Golf Membership Starting online registration for Little Linksters

TFT NSP pilot program unveiled to select schools ANA Master class with Dominique Alvarez being able to walk 18 holes with

Sandra Gal through LPGA girls program 4 participants applied for TFT opportunities and Madison Rincon was

accepted to the Leadership and Life skill camp in Blaine, MN Still waiting on if she got into TFT Pebble Beach Open

Programming/Volunteers: Fall, 2016, commence NSP programming at Valley

schools. Develop and grow our Volunteer Coach bench

strength via enhanced training and recruitment. Engage and involve our Volunteer in diverse activities. Search out additional site and outreach opportunities.

Fundraising/Special Events: Development of a Annual Sustaining Campaign program

creating the ‘Friends of The First Tee Society’. With completed video, aggressively pursue both country club

and Valley organizations with effective outreach communication Re-position TFT Invitational event to a combined

fundraising/recognition function. Engage Men’s/Ladies Golf organizations creating ‘TFT-CV Day’. Aggressively pursue grant opportunities.

COMMITTEE INITIATIVES – 2016-17

Marketing: Develop TFT-CV facility tour for prospective

participants/donors. Creation of Ambassador programs for both Youth and

Volunteers, approx. 6 – 8 trained individuals. Develop a standardized TFT-CV informational ‘script’

for consistent and focused message. Finalize TFT-CV promotional video.
