Step 1: Grant Guidelines & Technical AssistanceBegin by visiting www.cfmv.org to familiarize yourself with the grant guidelines for each grant opportunity available through The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.

Call Marissa Murphy, Director of Donor Services (330-743-5555) to discuss any grant related questions.

Next, select the grant application that you will be applying to for funding.

Step 2: Account Sign InThe first time you apply through CFMV's online application process, please create an account by clicking “New Applicant?” It is suggested that the log in created is stored in a safe place and shared among all grant writers within your organization. All applications started and submitted through this log in will be saved and can be accessed again in the future. The e-mail address associated with the account, as well as the password can be changed or updated in the future from your Account Log In.

If you have applied for a previous grant opportunity through CFMV's online application system and have already created a username and password, please log in. If you forget your password, click “Forgot Password?”

Step 3: 501(c)3 StatusAll applicants must be a registered 501(c)(3) or provide a valid IRS number for their fiscal agent.

Step 4: Eligibility Criteria

Applicants are asked a series of questions pertaining to their eligibility for the grant opportunity for which they are applying.

Step 5: Organization InformationThis section asks for basic information about the organization.

Award packets & denial letters and general follow-up regarding the application will be sent to the address listed on this page.

Step 6: Contact InformationThis section asks for contact information for the Application Contact and Organization CEO, as well as fiscal agent information, if any.

Please Note: Award packets & denial letters, general follow-up regarding the application, or evaluations after an award is sent to the Application Contact.

Step 7: Application InformationThis section captures information about the specific project for which an organization is applying for funding, including the Title of Project, Project Start Date, Amount Requested from Foundation, etc.

Step 8: AttachmentsThis section provides instructions for uploading and submitting required materials. Your Project Budget, Operating Budget, Board of Directors List, Most Recent Audit or Financial Statement, and IRS 501(c)(3) Determination Letter must be uploaded. You can also upload any supporting documentation that you feel may be useful information for the CFMV to have on file. Please Note: you must stay in the file size parameters (7MB).

Late applications will not be submitted to the committee for review.

Step 9: Review My ApplicationOn this page, Organizations are able to review the application, correct any errors and submit the completed application to CFMV.

RemindersFields marked with a red asterisk are required before final submission.

You can Save and Finish Later at any time during the application process. Remember, you must submit the finished application prior to the deadline.

Boardman Schools Fund for Educational Excellence TBA

Boardman School District

Provides funding for projects to further students’ educational experience. Specifically, it funds projects beyond the scope of the schools’ budget that help students develop their talents and interests in an environment that nurtures high achievement and educational excellence.

Applicants must be either a high school senior planning to attend — or already enrolled at — Youngstown State University, Kent State University’s Regional Campuses (East Liverpool, Salem or Trumbull) or Eastern Gateway Community College; or a student currently enrolled full- or part-time at Youngstown State University, Kent State University’s Regional Campuses (East Liverpool, Salem or Trumbull) or Eastern Gateway Community College

Melinda Henning Scholarship Fund

The scholarship will be awarded to a student attending an accredited university within Ohio who will be pursuing a course of study in Environmental Education such as Nature Interpretation, Outdoor Education or a closely related field. The scholarship will be awarded based on both need and merit.

Supports students pursuing a degree in healthcare.
