SFC method for the separation of THC enantiomers

Researchers at Salk institute published in Nature journal their findings that THC and certain

other compounds in cannabis are able to fight the Alzheimer’s-inducing protein which occurs in

brain cells. We assumed the THC they used was racemic and for further studies and clinical trials

to confirm this finding there would almost certainly be a need to study the effect of individual

enantiomers. WcS have developed a scaleable SFC method for the separation of the

enantiomers.

The separation of the enantiomers of THC using Chiralpak ADH (150 x 4.6 mm i.d.) column at

room temperature, 90% liquid carbon dioxide / 10% methanol at 4 ml/min. 100 Bar BPR.
