APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONSPRESENTATION
William J. Pehaim, MBA
APPLICANT INTRODUCTION My name is William “Bill” Pehaim. I am a Florida native and have spent the
majority of my professional career working throughout the state of Florida, and specifically in Brevard County for roughly the past twenty years.
I was raised in a career military house-hold with parents who instilled a strong set of values, principals and standards.
I graduated from Melbourne Central Catholic High School, Brevard Junior College, the University of Florida and Florida State University.
“The Importanceof Manufacturing”
Economics 101: When a country manufactures and exports more than it imports the country creates a “Trade Surplus” or “Economic Wealth”.
Manufacturing creates jobs for the skilled and unskilled labor force.
Household income expenditures from these jobs created through manufacturing then stimulate other segments of the economy and growth in the overall Gross National Product (GNP).
Other sectors of the economy that traditionally support manufacturing such as producers of raw materials and educators (educational institu-tions) also follow to further stimulate future manufacturing and continued economic growth.
“WHY I AM THE MOST APPROPRIATE CANDIDATE
FOR THE POSITION” WORK ETHIC: I am creative, analytical and
actionable professional who gets the job done1/
EDUCATION/SKILL SETS: I am MBA educated offering expertise in four major disciplines: Business Management, Advertising/ Marketing, Research/Strategic Planning and Community/Business Development.

“WHY I AM THE MOST APPROPRIATE CANDIDATEFOR THE POSITION” cont… KNOWLEDGE: At Bombardier, I performed a
variety of Customer and Dealer/Distributor Satisfaction studies, Benchmark studies, Dealer/Owner Confidence studies as well as, Market/Trade Area studies.
I understand the Manufacturing product life cycle from the product introduction segment, the product growth segment, the product maturity/cash cow segment to the product decline segment.
EXPERIENCE: At Bombardier, I experienced “A Manufacturer’s Perfect Storm” as only a manufacturer could and my learning from this experience was invaluable. continued…
“WHY I AM THE MOST APPROPRIATE CANDIDATEFOR THE POSITION” cont… LEARNING/PAST EXPERIENCE: During the
mid to late 1990’s Bombardier did not recognize that the product life cycle for PWC had advanced into the maturity/cash cow segment from the growth segment where they had previously owned a 50% share of the Personal Watercraft market prior to the market’s sudden decline.
The company had oversaturated the mar- ket with relatively high priced entry level Personal Watercraft when the customer wanted and could obtain higher quality luxury watercraft, at a lower cost, in the used/secondary market.
“WHY I AM THE MOST APPROPRIATE CANDIDATEFOR THE POSITION” cont… LEARNING/PAST EXPERIENCE cont.: The
company, by neglecting to recognize the correct segment for the product’s life cycle, was late in adjusting company production runs and pricing strategies to meet customer needs and demand thus dropping its market share.
Bombardier also lost market share due to its lack of new and innovative product introductions along with new environmental regulations it failed to anticipate.
The new environmental regulations mandated that the company change from 2 stroke engines to more environmentally friendly 4 stroke engines before it was prepared to do so.
“WHY I AM THE MOST APPROPRIATE CANDIDATEFOR THE POSITION” cont…
LEARNING/PAST EXPERIENCE cont.: The result was that Bombardier was forced to buy engines from Honda which delayed production and reduced profit margins.
Bombardier however was able to “Weather the Storm” overcoming production problems, incorrect pricing strategies and the absence of desired product introductions as well as, government regulatory requirements and today again is the leader in the manufacture and sale of personal watercraft with a 49% share of the market1/.

“WHY I AM THE MOST APPROPRIATE CANDIDATE
FOR THE POSITION” Primary Skill Set: Besides having the character,
integrity, education and manufacturing experience needed to succeed in this position, I also offer, as a previous Neighborhood Development Specialist, a local community savvy as well as a strategic planning skill set and expertise which I learned as a regional research analyst for the Rouse Company repositioning malls in the mid-west and as the Director of Research for Burdines Department Stores writing the division’s five-year strategic plan.
My Conclusion: “I am the most appropriate candidate for the management position for the following three reasons: my Research/Strategic Planning skills, my manufacturer experience and for my business and professional contacts and relationships throughout Brevard Co.”
