When choosing images please use the following criteria:

• The main image should show as much of the products features as can be captured in one shot.

• The product must be in focus from front to back and cleanly lit. • The product needs to be on a white background/canvas (255 RGB)

with a drop shadow to ground the product. • The image should contain the product only – please do not

include any copy or graphic elements in the image. • We can display up to 8 images per product. • Please look at www.apple.com for examples of accessory product

imagery for your category.

Overview: Product Photography


1Crop tightly.All we want is your pure product, no extra background. Please crop your product within a few pixels of the edge of the item, both vertically and horizontally, including the shadow. We want to eliminate as much unnecessary white space as possible from the images. What not to do: Do not square off the canvas.


1Be organized and helpful.The best file is a layered PSD file that includes paths or channels for the object, and shadow. If you have a layered file (such as PNG, PSD or TIF) please include all the layers in the file (don’t flatten the file). Include any clipping paths in the image file. Please send image files only (no images embedded in Keynotes, Word docs etc..).

What not to do: Do not remove layers and paths if they are part of your file.

1Size is important.We require images that are 6000 pixels at the longest dimension. What not to do: DO NOT enlarge or upsize your images to meet the requirements. This will result in a degraded image.

1Get the format right.

Ideally, We need to work with lossless and layered file formats such as PSD. Preferred: A high-quality, lossless format such as PSD, TIFF, or PNG. Minimum: A JPG is the minimum file format we will accept. It should be saved at the highest quality level to minimize artifacts in the compression.

What not to do: Do not send compressed JPG images, GIFs or other ready-for-web file formats.


1A clear naming convention.

Please name your photographs using the first five characters of the Apple Part Number. For example: AB123.psd. When sending more that one image, please append the image with any nomenclature that you use to distinguish the unique images. We will rename them for our galleries/naming convention.
