Streaming Devices or Game Consoles

a. Check your system’s documentation, perform a Web search, or review the following CMU link for tips to find the Ethernet address of popular streaming and gaming devices. These instructions are provided as a courtesy to Colorado Mesa University users. CMU does not provide support for these devices.

Go into your television’s Menu. d. Select your “Channel” sub-menu. On some televisions it may be called “Tuner” or “TV”. e. Make sure the television is set to “Cable” and not “Antenna” or “Air”. f. Select “Auto Scan”. Some televisions may say “Auto Tune” or “Auto Program”. g. The process should take 5 – 10 minutes to complete depending on your television.

Wireless Gaming & Streaming Notice

Some consumer media streaming devices and game systems (Roku, Amazon Stick) may not work on

the CMU wireless network as most manufacturers of consumer

products do not support enterprise security protocols.

We recommend you connect these types of devices to the

campus wired network for best performance.

TV Requirements

Although most modern TVs will work properly, it is

important that you purchase a TV with a QAM Digital

tuner.

Check the manufacturer’s specifications and/or your

electronics before purchasing a television. A unit without this type of tuner will not

receive campus cable television programming.
