Family Prosperity Initiative Partners The Family Prosperity Initiative, a partnership
of several agencies in Salt Lake County, Utah, would like to thank Smart investing@your library®, the FINRA Investor Education Foundation and the American Library Association for the opportunity and funds to provide financial literacy education to refugees, new immigrants and the public in Salt Lake County and surrounding communities. Smart investing@your library® is administered jointly by the FINRA Investor Education Foundation and the American Library Association. Through grants, exhibits and librarian training, this program supports efforts to provide library patrons with access to effective, unbiased financial education resources.
Participating libraries use a variety of strategies to bring quality financial and investor education opportunities within easy reach of diverse groups of library patrons at no cost to them. Through the program, library patrons are empowered to make smart financial decisions, both for long-term investing and day-to-day money matters. The American Library Association (ALA) is the oldest and largest library association in the world, providing association information, news, events, and advocacy resources for members, librarians, and library users. Founded on October 6, 1876 during the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, the mission of ALA is to provide leadership for the development, promotion, and improvement of library and information services and the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all. Salt Lake County Library Services (SLCoLS) has served immigrants and refugees in Salt Lake County since 1939. They will assist with curriculum adaptation; curriculum support materials; provide instructors as needed; meeting/training space; and professional marketing services. They will also maintain the timeline, coordinate partner efforts, and be responsible for the delivery of reports to the Grantors. (http://slcolibrary.org/)
English Skills Learning Center (ESLC) accomplishes its mission of bringing integration, security, and empowerment to adult English language learners in Salt Lake County by offering community-based ESL and Citizenship classes. The ESLC will incorporate the FPI curriculum into its current Empowering Parents classes, which are offered in schools and help engage parents in their children’s education. The curriculum will also be used to supplement English instruction at the LDS Humanitarian Center, where refugees participate in a year-long English and job skills training program. ESLC will also incorporate FPI into classes offered at Glendale/Mountain View Community Learning Center (G/MVCLC) (www.saltlakeeducationfoundation.org/Community-Learning-Centers) and Refugee

Welcome Centers (www.uw.org/our-work/promise-partnerships/south-salt-lake/south-salt-lake-2). ESLC staff members will train and supervise the volunteers who will provide classroom instruction. (http://www.eslcenter.org/)
The Guadalupe School's Adult Education Program (GSAEP) teaches English to low-income immigrant adults who need to learn basic survival language skills. Students are placed in small groups and instructed by volunteer tutors, who work under the supervision of trained staff members. The financial literacy curriculum will be part of Adult Education's existing, competency-based language curriculum. (http://guadalupeschoolslc.org/adult-education)
International Rescue Committee of Salt Lake City (IRC-SLC) “From the first moment the IRC hits the ground we work toward lasting solutions. Building local capacity and self-sufficiency -- and promoting human rights, participation, and accountability -- are at the core of all of our innovative programs.” They have provided services to refugee communities in Utah since 1993. IRC-SLC will play a key role in the translation and adaptation of curriculum and materials. The will also hire translators and additional instructors as needed. The Refugee and Immigrant Center at Asian Association of Utah (RIC-AAU) will provide space and classes at neighborhood centers to provide instruction and supplementary training within existing curricula and will promote standalone classes to refugee and immigrant populations. (http://aau-slc.org/)

Salt Lake County Office of Community Innovation (SLCOCI will work closely with both SLCoLS and ESLC to identify additional partners, contribute to grant reports, and provide instructors. (http://slco.org/community-innovation/ )
The Social Research Institute (SRI) provides research, training, and consultation to build and enhance the capacity for human service systems change through evidence-based practice. SRI is also involved with development of resources for research. They will be preparing and conducting evaluative components of this project. (http://www.socwk.utah.edu/sri/)
Utah State University Extension Services will oversee the curriculum development, train the ESL Instructors to use developed curriculum, and will provide the stand-alone class series. (http://extension.usu.edu/saltlake/)

Salt Lake City Public Library (SLCPL) has served immigrants and refugees in Salt Lake City since 1898 and will provide space and classes in which to provide supplementary training as well as promote to refugee and immigrant population. (http://slcpl.org/) Utah Education Network (UEN) connects all Utah school districts, schools, and higher education institutions to a robust network and quality educational resources. UEN is one of the nation's premier education networks.
