The quality of the data was assessed and any necessary qualifiers were applied following the USEPA Contract Laboratory Program National Functional Guidelines for Organic Data Review, October 1999.
HOLDING TIME AND PRESERVATION EVALUATION
The samples were prepared and analyzed within the method prescribed time period from the date of collection. None of the data were qualified based on holding time exceedances.
BLANK EVALUATION
The method blank sample results were nondetected for each of the target analytes. No data required qualification based on blank results.
BLANK SPIKE EVALUATION
The laboratory control sample (LCS) percent recoveries (%R) were within the laboratory’s limits of acceptance, indicating acceptable accuracy. No data required qualification based on LCS results.
SURROGATE SPIKE EVALUATION
The surrogate recoveries were within acceptable limits. No qualifications to the data were made. The surrogate recoveries indicate minimal matrix interference in the samples.
P A G E 2
CANISTER VACUUM EVALUATION
One sample was received in the laboratory with zero vacuum. All compounds in that sample are qualified as estimated (J/UJ) as shown in Table 1.
OVERALL ASSESSMENT
No data required rejection. All of the data, including qualified data, can be used for decision-making purposes; however, the limitations indicated by the applied qualifiers should be considered when using the data. The quality of the data generated during this investigation is acceptable for the preparation of technically defensible documents.

Three 6 Liter Summa Canister (SIM Certified) samples were received on August 29, 2005. The laboratory performed analysis via modified EPA Method TO-15 using GC/MS in the SIM acquisition mode. The method involves concentrating up to 0.5 liters of air. The concentrated aliquot is then flash vaporized and swept through a water management system to remove water vapor. Following dehumidification, the sample passes directly into the GC/MS for analysis.
Method modifications taken to run these samples include:Requirement ATL ModificationsTO-15Blank and standards Zero air Nitrogen
Dilutions for initial calibration Dynamic dilutions or static using canisters.
Syringe dilutions may also be utilized.
